Brush fire burning near Santa Paula

9:35 a.m. Firefighters are hoping to have a small brush fire that broke out overnight in the oil fields near Santa Paula fully contained by about 10 a.m. today.

As of 9 a.m., the fire that broke out just after 3:30 a.m. near South Mountain Road and 12th Street was 75 percent contained at about 30 acres. Firefighters hope to have the blaze completely out by about 5 p.m. today.

Helicopters began doing water drops when the sun came up. Firefighters were also working to improve existing containment lines and cut new ones around the blaze.
