Neighbors of suspect and slain wife shocked by shooting

12:40 p.m. People in the Simi Valley neighborhood where Mariela and Jaime Paredes lived expressed shock today that he was suspected of shooting her to death Wednesday at a Simi Valley dentist office.

Jaime Paredes, who is suspected of killing his wife and injuring four other people, has been booked into Ventura County Jail where he is expected to face charges of murder. Bail has been set at $3 million. He is due to make his first court appearance Monday.
