Chela Sandoval

Chela Sandoval is assistant professor of critical and cultural theory at the University of California, Santa Barbara. She was raised in a working class family, and her life goals were directed by my machinist/philosopher father, her warehouse-fork-lift driver/spiritual-activist mother, and by my two dreamer sisters.

She was raised in San Jose and educated at San Jose City College, San Jose State University, and at the Universities of California at Berkeley and Santa Cruz, where she received her B.A. and Ph.D. degrees.

Her favorite activity is watching the rain while drinking tea and eating apples with jack cheese. she says her life is made meaningful by my biological family and by my extended family of intellectual, queer, feminist, spiritual, and third world activists.
