@TO-Cal Stand Out hed:Mandolin maestro Ashley Broder, Paramount ranch Plucky Ashley Broder, a former Moorpark College music major, will bring her magic mandolin to the 48th annual Topanga Banjo Fiddle Contest & Folk Festival on Sunday at Paramount Ranch. Broder, who won the Western Open Master Picker Championship in 2003 and 2004, performs as a duo with Celtic violinist Jamie Laval. The pair will play from 12:30 to 1 p.m. on the Main Stage and 3 to 4 p.m. on the Railroad Stage. Also performing are more than 100 folk-musician contestants, the Stairwell Sisters and the Simon Pure Band. Other festival fun includes folk dancing, workshops, children's activities, storytelling, music jams and vendor booths. The event is slated from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday at Paramount Ranch, near Agoura Hills in the Santa Monica Mountains National Recreation Area.
