@TO-Cal Stand Out hed:Curb appeal The Concert On The Curb, Ventura Yeah, yeah. We know. Kevin Costner's bringing his Hollywood publicity road show to downtown Ventura on Saturday night. But you might want head down early and hike up California Street towards City Hall for what should be a fine, free musical showcase fueled by hot dogs and chips. Six, count 'em, six bands will make up the Concert on the Curb, an instrument drive/raffle/fundraiser/barbecue benefiting City Corps and Peace Thru Music, two local organizations that work with Ventura County youth. The grill is set to fire up at noon and the bands should follow soon after, starting with J.T. & Wendy Lee and finishing up with headliners Shades of Day, a group that once called its music a "dirty underground shuffle express." In between, Brion Shearer, Divine Crime, Fido and the Situation will take the stage. Along with the free music and cheap food, you can also enter a raffle to win a guitar signed by Costner himself. (Rumor has it that the Oscar winner may hand over the ax to the winner. But, you know, it's just a rumor.) It all takes place outside Ventura City Corps headquarters at 77 N. California St. from noon to 7 p.m. And if you've got a spare instrument hanging around the house, bring it along as they will be taking instrument donations.
