I believe that drug exposure is the most preventable cause of developmental delay in children. In the worst instances, a mother with already poor health can binge on methamphetamine and cause strong contractions in her uterus, causing her to go into preterm labor. Worse yet, the placenta can separate from the uterine wall, and life-threatening bleeding in the mother and baby can occur. Full story »
