Your letters: Barack Obama

No admiration

When I look at the events of the year and the changes in store for 2009, I do not feel it is admirable of Barack Obama to promote himself as comparable to Franklin D. Roosevelt and Abraham Lincoln before he has done anything to even suggest a likeness to these men.

It is not admirable for Obama to want to live like a king and to rule like a king while he promotes policies that will destroy American free enterprise and replace it with dependence on government doles and socialism. Who will invest in American stocks when the only growth will be in the number of government employees and the amount of taxes and punitive regulations on surviving private businesses and individuals?

It is not admirable for Obama to surround himself with politicians and lobbyists whose primary goals are to enrich and empower themselves, using scams like climate control and government-rationed healthcare, while the economic futures of Americans plummet. It is not admirable for Obama to spend trillions of dollars that will enslave American taxpayers for decades to benefit the people who supported his campaign, like Exxon Oil, which will be given the government contracts for carbon emissions control in exchange for millions in campaign donations, or the unions, whose donations guarantee the removal of government oversight in how unions spend their members’ money, thereby increasing union coercion of members, employers and politicians.

It is not admirable for Obama and his team to cut defense spending at a time when world governments are so unstable and terrorism is exploding.

The changes that are coming in 2009 will not be dismissed, covered up or made more tolerable by catchy phrases or the distraction of politicians who are narcissistic celebrities with nothing about them to admire.

Conspiracy theory silly

Re: Jonathan Mirabile’s Jan. 2 letter, “Was Obama born in U.S.?”:

How many letters questioning President-elect Barack Obama’s place of birth and eligibility to be president does The Star intend to publish?

Obama was born in Hawaii on August 4, 1961 — period. All conspiracy theories have been debunked and forgery advocates have been discredited. Pseudo experts of five minutes ago only saw a scan of the certificate and have been proven to be no more experts than I am.

To think there is a massive cover-up is asinine. The Hawaiian officials have confirmed its veracity, as have the Health Department director and the registrar of vital statistics. The Honolulu Advertiser produced the original announcement, and several U.S. judges have dismissed the suits as frivolous. So many people would have to be in on the “cover-up” that it is plain ridiculous to believe it would even work.

Someone out there would see a quick buck to be made and spill the beans, not to mention that risking his entire campaign on something that could be so easily discovered is an insult to Obama’s intelligence. At least his intelligence is something that was never attacked.

This persistent rumor only exists in the right-wing blogosphere and in the world of viral calumny. No legitimate media outlet is wasting any time on this. No, it is not a cover-up by the “left wing” media either.

So could The Star refrain from giving it any credence by publishing these crackpot letters, please?

Obama’s birthright

Re: Jonathan Mirabile’s Jan. 2 letter, “Was Obama born in U.S.?”:

Mirabile asks if anyone has proven that Barack Obama was born in the United States. Yes. He himself already had to prove it to the U.S. government when he ran for Senate. His Hawaiian birth certificate is consistent with the documents of the time and has been verified by state officials.

There is also a birth announcement contained in the Honolulu Advertiser dated Aug. 13, 1961, reporting his birth on Aug. 4, 1961. Either his parents had already concocted the conspiracy to misrepresent his birth when he was 9 days old — being so prescient that they knew, even before the civil rights movement, that their mixed-race son would be elected the leader of the free world, and they didn’t want to mess it up by showing he was born in Africa or Indonesia — or they were really happy with their new son and wanted to tell everybody.

Mirabile and the Pravda opinion columnist he cites can decide. The Pravda writer was mad that the federal lawsuit filed against Obama by an individual Philadelphia attorney was dismissed.

Mirabile’s allegation of liberal betrayal and cover-up by “dark masters” makes me know he’s never going to be satisfied with the choices made by mainstream America, and he wants a “do-over.”

The Star has printed Mirabile’s wild allegations as testament to the freedoms we continue to enjoy, rather than the constitutional disgrace he portrays.

Incidentally, John McCain definitely wasn’t born in the United States. He was born in Panama.

Patti Chiarelli - great letter Ms. Chiarelli! I'm afraid he's been designated "savior of the United States and the World" status without accomplishing anything. Only time will tell whether or not his rhetoric will live up to reality.

>>> How do they explain a birth announcement published 48 years ago in a newspaper?

Firstly, it announces a birth without stating the place of birth. Secondly, it is in a newspaper that has nothing to do with official state records. Anybody could place an ad with anything there.

Hawaii laws allow registrations of births that took place in other countries and the newspaper simply announced a birth on the basis of such registration. "nutjobs" do not arge that Obama had a birth or his mother/family registered his birth in hawaii. The issue is where Obama's birth took place. Hawaii officials confirmed that they have Obama's original birth certificate. But contrary to some discredited news outlets, the hawaii officials NEVER confirmed that Obama was born in hawaii.

ATTENTION! HELP! ANSWER TWO (2) SIMPLE QUESTIONS!

1. Why does Obama refuse to request the same Hawaii state office to mail the same COLB (called "birth certificate") that Obama displays on his websites directly to all the parties who sue him to do just that? After all this is just a computer printout with a stamp and a seal on it, like a college transcript. Many state offices issue similar computer printouts to millions of Americans each year. There are many Americans willing to pay all the processing fees, even to pay Obama for his effort to request extra copies of his COLB. Instead Obama uses at least three law firms to defend all the lawsuits and to avoid presenting even a single physical copy of his COLB that he shows on his websites, mailed directly from the Hawaii state office.

2. Who is the Hawaii state official who "confirmed" Obama's COLB? So far, no Hawaii official ever confirmed that Obama was born in Hawaii or confirmed any of the COLB images Obama posted on his websites. Find me a source with exact quote from any of the Hawaii officials. There are some discredited "news" organizations like Associated Press that spread lies and totally misrepresent what Hawaii officials said. This is the last official statement issued by Hawaii officials:

http://hawaii.gov/health/about/pr/200...

Hawaii officials only stated they have Obama's original birth certificate. Under Hawaii laws his certificate could be from any country. Hundreds of people asked Hawaii state officials to specifically confirm Obama's birth in Hawaii and no Hawaii official answered directly. Instead, they issued carefully worded statements.

The add ran 4 days after he was born. The birth was registered 3 days after he was born.

How do you propose that Obama’s mother traveled from Kenya to Hawaii with a two day old infant?

GooLowia --- But contrary to some discredited news outlets, the hawaii officials NEVER confirmed that Obama was born in hawaii.---

The COLB released by Obama is a CERTIFIED legal document. In other words, the registrar has certified that it is true and accurate. It states right on the front of the document: "City, Town or Location of Birth: Honolulu." As far as I have ever heard, Honolulu is not part of Kenya.

You’re joking, right?

Cool, I can get a genuine, official certified Obama COLB just by paying a few buck court filing fees. I bet I could make a mint with that on e-bay.

GooLowia --- Who is the Hawaii state official who "confirmed" Obama's COLB?---

I already told you, the registrar from the Department of Health, Vital Statistics.

The registrar's certification means the the COLB is a valid legal document acceptable in any court in the U.S.

Did you see on the bottom where it states “This copy serves as prima facie evidence of the fact of birth in any court proceeding.?”

This means ALL the data in the document, including the part that states: “City, Town or Location of Birth: Honolulu.”

Note that it DOES NOT say: City, Town or Location of Birth: Kenya.”

I guess the concept of privacy and HIPPA laws are unfamiliar to you.

Would you want a bunch of strangers looking at your birth certificate without your knowledge?

Err. . ., he's not president yet. Bush and his gang are the ones currently spending trillions now to bail out Wall Street CEOs.

We are talking about Obama's COLB that Obama posted on his websites, and not his birth certificate. Since Obama already displayed complete digitized images of his COLB from all angles possible, what is the problem looking at the physical copy? Hawaii state office waits for Obama to request the exra copies and is ready to mail them to anybody who pays $10-$20/copy.

So what is your next argument? Are you afraid that the "location of birth" on his COLB mailed directly from the Hawaii state office will show KENYA?

>>> Alfred wrote: I already told you, the registrar from the Department of Health, Vital Statistics.

You imply that Obama's own digitized images posted on his websites say so. Funny, the registrar was asked hundreds of times directly and in person and the registrar refused to confirm it. However, the registrar is ready to mail extra copies of the same COLB that Obama displays on his websites to anybody as long as Obama requests it. According to you, the COLB will be exactly the same so no privacy issues here.

I see a sign of curiosity on your part, a very commendable effort, way to go, Alfred! Go to wnd.com and look for articles that list all the parties who sue or have sued Obama. Then contact them directly. They will be very happy to provide you the names of Obama's law firms and their army of lawyers who charge > $500/hr and generate truckloads of paperwork and billing hours, all paid by the money contributed to Obama's campaign.

Nobody denies the ad was placed 48 years ago. Get off your Kool-Aid first, take reading classes, then re-read everything again, exactly in that order.
