1 arrested after car, foot chase

Authorities this morning arrested a man following a car chase and foot pursuit near the edge of Oxnard.

The chase began about 10:40 a.m. when a suspect in a home invasion robbery fled from a residence Ventura County Sheriff’s deputies were watching and took off in a car into Oxnard, said Sheriff’s Capt. Frank O’Hanlon.

After a brief chase, the suspect crashed near Geronimo Drive in Oxnard, ran from the vehicle and began jumping through back yards, O’Hanlon said.

With the help of a Sheriff’s department helicopter, deputies found the suspect hiding in bushes behind a shed and arrested him, said the captain.

Oxnard police assisted Sheriff’s deputies with the incident, which lasted about 15 minutes.

No injuries were reported.

This is what we're turning into. How many updates do we need everyday? How many stabbings, shootings, car chases, and robberies do we need to hear about? As the economy worsens, we will only see more.

I hope everyone who reads this heeds these words: Be ready to defend yourself and your family. The lady in Santa Paula who defended herself and her children in the face of a cold blooded criminal is a perfect example! Don't be an easy target. Defend yourself!

I want to read more Star articles where a subject who tried to pull a home invasion robbery was shot to death by the homeowner! If the victim of the home invasion, in this case, shot this guy dead there would have been no car chase! And we, as a society, would send a message to these scumbags that the next door they kick in will be their last!

By the way, Big 5 has a sale on 12 gauge shotguns! At $200, that's the cheapest home safety device on the market!

nojustice, the way i read it is that the home invasion had already occurred and the house they were watching had some kind of connection to a suspect they had in mind.

This reminds me of the Camarillo pursuit that took place yesterday when those two Camarillo scum ran home

Two teenagers created quite a lunchtime commotion in Camarillo Tuesday. The 16-year-old males, one from Nyeland Acres, the other from Camarillo, were reportedly in a stolen vehicle around noon when a motorcycle officer tried to pull them over for playing the car stereo too loud. The driver, the Nyeland Acres teen, sped off and led the deputy on a brief pursuit that ended when the teen crashed the stolen vehicle into a wall at an apartment complex in the 2400 block of Pickwick Drive. The teens then fled the vehicle and ran into the apartment where the Nyeland Acres teen had a brother and one of his parents living. The incident prompted the Sheriff's Department to call out its helicopter and 3 K-9 units. They, along with the CHP, searched the area and tracked the teens down to that apartment unit. But the teens refused to come out when ordered, so the deputies went in with the dogs. The K-9's helped take the two teens into custody, although the Camarillo teen suffered dog bites to his buttock and shoulder. No one else was injured, The two teenagers are facing a variety of charges from auto theft to resisting arrest.

And alot of restitution!
Glad they caught the home invasion guy. Just wonder why they allowed him to get in the car and drive away and not surround him before he drove off? Maybe they were waiting for backup , I don't know....... just glad they caught him!
