A Simi Valley man was arrested after he allegedly posed as a water company employee to gain access to a home and take valuables.
Simi Valley police said Glen Parnell, 40, would tell residents he worked for "The Water Company" as a way to get permission to go inside. Before entering, police allege he had "already turned off the water to the residence."
Police said Parnell convinced the resident to go to another room in the home "to turn on the faucets and watch for water to come back on." Meanwhile, they allege, he took cash, credit cards, jewelry "and other small valuables from the residence."
Since Sept. 9, Parnell is believed to have carried out two successful thefts and three unsuccessful attempts, police said.
Detectives said they got a break in the case on Monday when they identified the vehicle allegedly used in the thefts. Police identified a truck matching the description of the suspect vehicle in the area of Los Angeles Avenue and Sycamore Drive.
Officers arrested the truck's driver, Parnell, on suspicion of burglary, identity theft and unlawful use of an access card.
Parnell was taken to Ventura County jail and later released.

I am glad they caught this jerk. Hopefully he didn't do too much damage to the people he stole from. Thanks SVPD!
