Bobcat in Meiner Oaks tree

Authorities decide to let it come down on its own

Rather than take a Bobcat out of a tree in Meiner Oaks, authorities decided to let it be Friday afternoon, confident the untamed animal would make its way back to the wild on its own.

Ventura County Sheriff deputies were called to the 900-block of Rice Road after the cat was spotted in a tree near a home there.

Authorities said they contacted the California Department of Fish and Game, which is charged with preserving the state's wildlife.

Fish and Game officials told them to just leave the cat alone and that it would eventually climb out of the tree on its own.

Bobcats are native to North America and can grow to twice the size of an average house cat.

The cats are most active in the early evening and at dawn.

Hey Star,

KTVA stated this occurred in Meiners Oaks. Which is it?

I read about the bobcats on KTLA.com. According to that article, they are more active in the early evening and early dawn.

D@mn, I leave for work in the early dawn.

This is nothing new. If people would pay attention you would notice that bob cats are everywhere here in Ojai. Not much of a news story. This is normal. Hey did you know there was a squirrel in my tree today.
