VOLUNTEERISM ....GIVING IS RECEIVING
Surveys tell us that more people would volunteer for community service if they had the time. Kiwanis of Simi Valley is creating an organization which will enable people to participate in community service without the necessity of attending weekly meetings.
The new concept is an E-Club. Members can meet online in a conference call setting twice a month in a 30 minute meeting that will cover current and upcoming service projects, socials, reports, and most other things a classic Kiwanis Club does.
Some of the ways Kiwanis contributes to the community are feeding the homeless, stocking a food share, awarding scholarships to graduating seniors, celebrating good students, cleaning up parks and other areas of the community, providing food at community events, raising funds for schools and charities, enabling developmentally challenged adults to be productive, cheering up the elderly, and raising funds for charity.
Core meetings have already begun for "Kiwanisonline". The next organizational meeting is scheduled for October 22. (Call Simi Valley Kiwanis at 805-675-8668 to request location and time.)
