Ventura County sheriff's deputies used Tasers to subdue two men in separate incidents Tuesday night, authorities said.
A 54-year-old man was stunned with a Taser when he allegedly tried to run from deputies responding to the 3000 block of Alice Drive in Newbury Park about 7 p.m. to check on his well-being, sheriff's Capt. Bruce Norris said.
The man, who had apparently overdosed on medication, allegedly kicked a deputy as he was being subdued, Norris said. He was cited on suspicion of resisting arrest and battering an officer and then released, authorities said.
Less than an hour later, a 43-year-old man suspected of battering his mother at their home in the 4900 block of Alta Colina Road in Camarillo was stunned with a Taser when he allegedly resisted arrest, Norris said.
The man was cited on suspicion of battery and resisting arrest and released, Norris said.
