Morning Report: 2 pulled from water near Mugu Rock
Police and Fire: Firefighters last night rescued 2 fishermen near Mugu Rock after the surf swept them from the rocks into the water, authorities said.
The two people were rescued about 6:40 p.m. by personnel from the Ventura County and Federal fire departments, according to the Ventura County Fire Department.
After the fishermen were pulled from the water, Oxnard firefighters helped rig ropes and pulleys to lift them up the cliff to safety, said Battalion Chief Gary Sugich of the Oxnard Fire Department.
Both of those rescued were transported to St. John’s Regional Medical Center in Oxnard.

I guess we've finally proven that humans cannot be taught?? If our politics is not a sure-fire indiciation, then incidents like this MUST speak for some level of stupidity?? How many people have to get knocked into that particular part of the ocean before we realize it's a dangerous place to play???

yesterday there was a accident. two cars getting on the fwy, one had room the other didnt as she cut in front of a truck. she wasnt paying attention to the road, traffic stopped and she rear ended the 1st car. the truck was able to stop in time.
when your driving, pay less attention people in the car with you and more on the road. plus dont cut in front of people.
be safe on the road, the life and pain you save, could be your own.

I'd like to be under the sea
In an octopus' garden in the shade
He'd let us in, knows where we've been
In his octopus' garden in the shade
I'd ask my friends to come and see
An octopus' garden with me
I'd like to be under the sea
In an octopus' garden in the shade.
We would be warm below the storm
In our little hideaway beneath the waves
Resting our head on the sea bed
In an octopus' garden near a cave
We would sing and dance around
because we know we can't be found
I'd like to be under the sea
In an octopus' garden in the shade
We would shout and swim about
The coral that lies beneath the waves
Oh what joy for every girl and boy
Knowing they're happy and they're safe
We would be so happy you and me
No one there to tell us what to do
I'd like to be under the sea
In an octopus' garden with you.

macdaddycrabby...I love, love, love that song!
Thank you! Now I'll be humming it all day.
As for the fisherman...ei, ei, ei! They are darn lucky to have been plucked out!

I think we need a law that stipulates:
When the rescuers arrive on the scene of someone or people who lacked common sense, the rescuers shout out through their bullhorn: "were you guys stupid, did you lack common sense that got you in this predicament?"
If the dummies answer with a thumbs up, then the rescuers shout through their bullhorn: "well then, you guys are on your own."

People should know better than to climb down on those rocks. I don't know if warnings are posted. In any case, the people rescued should have to pay back the county for their stupidity.

when I lived in Tucson in the early 90's they enacted what was called the Idiot Law. The FD got tired of saving people who drove into marked, flooded washes. Many roads simply followed the terrain and storm water would wash over the road for a while when it rained hard. Problem is you couldn't tell how deep it was. But they were all marked Do Not Enter When Flooded. So the Idiot Law allowed the FD to fine them $500 a pop to yank them out.

Back in 1986, I watched from the rocks above as 3 fisherman who had been swept off the rocks drowned...one by one giving up the fight and slowly sinking out of sight to the bottom of the ocean.
Where did this happen? MUGU ROCK.
I was 16 years old, and from that day forward I have had much more of an appreciation for the power and unpredictability of the ocean.

I believe there are signs posted warning of the 'creaper waves' associated with Mugu Rock. Due to the angle of the terrain the waves come up far quicker than any other beach area around here.
Some of the above posters must have a higher IQ as they seem to know Mr. J. Schitt. I believe otherwise.
