Thief steals 75-year-old woman's purse, police say

An elderly woman was robbed of her purse as she walked to her car Saturday night in Port Hueneme, authorities said.
The 75-year-old woman and was opening her passenger door in the 2700 block of Wendy Place around 8 p.m. when a man walked up and grabbed her purse, according to a statement prepared by the Port Hueneme Police Department.
The woman held onto her purse as the suspect dragged her several feet. A man driving past stopped and attempted to help her, but he fell to the ground, injuring both of his knees.
The suspect ran off with an undisclosed amount of money. Both the victim and the man who tried to assist her were treated at the scene by paramedics.
Anyone with information about the robbery is asked to contact Sgt. Eric Starna at the Port Hueneme Police Department, 986-6530.

I really hope they catch this scum who tried this elderly woman. And I applaud the man who tried to help her, I hope your knee's are ok.

what scum having to still from an elderly person... once a man tried to still my aunts purse and she beat the robber up! she was about 70...

What a low life who ever did this. Hopefully they catch him, and when they do give him some time locked up in prison not county jail so bubba could take care of him.

I am so glad that there still are people who are willing to get involved. Even though he failed to stop this thief, this bystander who was driving by is a hero!

What does the guy look like ? Is the Star too afraid to say what he looks like. This kind of reporting makes me want to run and buy this "paper" but I will use toilet paper instead

I hope they catch the guy ,but thats kinda hard since we don't evevn know who's here. Having said that makes me feel good to know we still have good people in the city also.I would like to thank the person who came by to help. You Rock
