More from Crime on the Streets
A young man from Oxnard was in critical condition after he was stabbed several times in a fight early Saturday in the intersection of Rose Avenue at Gonzales Road, authorities said.
The victim, 20, had stopped his car for a red light at the intersection alongside two suspects in another car at 2:50 a.m., Oxnard Police Department officials said.
The two suspects got out and confronted the victim in his car, and in an ensuing altercation, stabbed him several times, police said.
The suspects fled the scene in a light-colored four-door sedan.
The injured man was taken to St. John's Regional Medical Center, where he was listed in critical condition, police said.
Anyone with information can call Detective Jeff Long at 486-6506 or leave a message at the department's violent crimes hotline at 982-7070.

Oh no, not another violate crime in Oxnard! What's that been in the last thirty days? Couple of shootings, couple stabbings, a hit and run and a few beatings in between. Great place to live or visit (not!).

It's a good thing he was so close to St. John's.

Not nice guys. This is a serious matter, and you guys are making jokes/being sarcastic? Every one knows about the crime in Oxnard and I agree something needs to be done about it. Someone got stabbed and some idiots stabbed someone. This is not a joke.
I believe these dirtbags will be caught. I hope the victim survives anyway, but maybe he can also identify these guys. Hopefully OPD will get the leads they need make an arrest.

As Arnold borrows billions to support social services and continues to allow sanctuary cities, just remember that Oxnard is the tip of the iceberg.
Welcome to California largest import, CRIME.

I too grew up in Oxnard. I am also very aware of the ongoings in East Ventura, namely north of Highway 118. You too have your punks and gang bangers and your share of problems. Maybe the nozzle should be big enough for both cities.

cnjranch, I wouldn't start comparing Oxnard and Ventura just yet. Here are the 2006 Crime Stats for ya!
Murder: Ventura-1 Oxnard-13
Forcible Rape: Ventura-24 Oxnard-34
Robbery: Ventura-130 Oxnard-418
Agg Assault: Ventura-180 Oxnard-376
Burglary: Ventura-730 Oxnard-946
Vehicle Theft: Ventura-352 Oxnard-614
Oh yeah, it's JUST as bad!

Baitsoaker,
Your forgetting to factor in the population.Oxnard has about 80 to 90 thousand more people , now do the division. And dont forget Ventura is home to the largest crimal organization in Ventura County. Another thing, compare Oxnards stats to cities of equal size. Oxnards 31 part one crimes per 1000 population is a good stat

Oh these gang-bangers...when will enough be enough? I know, the article didn't mention it was gang-related. But I'll go out on a limb and say that it was.
Handy that it happened right by the hospital though...might have saved the victim's life.

ox4me: 80 to 90 thousand more??? how about 150 thousand more. ventura's claimed population is just over 100k, oxnard's at over 250k. and that's just the official count. they are both "reasonably safe" cities (thinking compton, inglewood, oakland, etc here), until it's yourself that becomes the victim.

Snead_Hearn,
I think it more appropiate that the enema be directed at yourself, providing there is room for it since the space is aleady occupied by your head.

Many people don't realize that Oxnard is the largest coastal city between Los Angeles and San Jose with the population of Oxnard is over 186,000 people. In 2004 Oxnard ranked as the 5th safest city in the United States among cities with population between 150,000 and 200,000.
The crime rate in Oxnard has dropped nearly 60% since 1992 with violent crime dropping by more than 50% since 1992. Oxnard's residential burglary rate has declined by more than 80% since the inception of the City's nationally recognized neighborhood watch program.
Oxnard's crime rate is lower than many cities in California including Anaheim, Beverly Hills, Costa Mesa, Manhattan Beach, Monterey, Newport Beach, Palm Springs, San Luis Obispo, Santa Barbara, Santa Cruz and Ventura.

Think how convenient it will be for all the criminals in Oxnard to be just minutes away from the new Taj Mahal Jail Hospital on Wright Road!

Actually,it will be convenient for criminals from every zip code in the county, even for the criminals from the east county cities.

Sneed_Hearn,
It seems Ojai may not be "Gods Country" after all. Seen todays story about the hate crime in Ojai " See below................
Beneath the statue of the Catholic school's patron saint, on a long sidewalk, huge scrawlings — hate-filled curse words against God — spread over more than 15 yards.
There was more vandalism and graffiti on the Ojai campus: On the football field, someone had formed horse manure in the shape of the letters NHS, and then spray painted it blue. Salt was poured on the field, apparently in an attempt to kill the grass.
etc. ,etc, etc..........

Snead_Hearn,
Yes, thats exactly correct, and I am not in the least a gullible person.Id much rather live in Oxnard than Ojai.Ive never been impressed with it all. I can afford to live almost anywhere in Ventura County and I find coastal living is far better than Ojai.Whats the problem? cant face the facts about the vandalism and hate crimes in Ojai?Is that diminishing your false sense of class superiority ? Im sure that some residents of Ojai are not crystal worshiping elitetist but Ive yet to meet one. Im very familar with people like you and mantolova, you all share a common practice of marginalizing people and communities that you believe vulnerable to enhance your self image at no cost. Its just a cheap psychological pay day for people like you.Would I like to rent a one house on Cooper road? Of course not,I would not like to rent a house in any of the run down areas of any city in V C. Whats the point? I recommend you be honest with yourself and find the real reason you and people like mantolova need to victimize others to improve your self image.

You have lived here with 50 years of experience, yet you dont even know that Silverstrand isnt even Oxnard! And you lack the fundamental knowledge that its all ventura county area south of Curlew street! If you are so unaware of even a simple fact such as that, you truly have no credibility about Oxnard. If your idea of GODS COUNTRY includes a community where crimes which Villanova has experienced then its no wonder how you became so confused.Besides its far more important as to HOW you raise your as it is to WHERE you raise your kids. Admit it,it feels good to you to marginilze Oxnard, its your first step to better mental health.

This happened at 2:50 AM-most of you posters were sleeping when it occurred. Just as the victim should have been.None of you have pointed that out.
I would like to thank the ignorant posters(LOL)who confuse law abiding citizens with individuals who put themselves into life threatening situations. The law abiding would be the better part of the 150,000+ citizens in that area.
Stay away from Oxnard if you don't like it. Especially at 3 in the morning!!

There are people here that state that basically no crime happens in Ojai. Well let me tell you. After working the VCSD for 24 years, (now retired)several of those years out of the Ojai sub-station, Ojai is not as crime free as these people would have you believe. The only difference is that crime is not reported as well as Oxnard or the other cities. Ojai is very tourist oriented and if the tourist found how much crime was really going on up they wouldn't come up there either.

Jealousy, you must be kidding.Ive seen people like you before.Im sorry about your feelings of insecurity about yourself, but using Oxnard as a crutch is not the answer.Zip code eliteism is an indicator of a persons deep rooted desire to feel better about themselves without any substance behind it.Seek professional counseling to better understand your motives to diminish others to feel better about yourself.
P S
SILVERSTRAND IS NOT OXNARD,ITS COUNTY AREA,CONTROLLED BY V C COUNTY SUPERVISORS AND IS SERVICED BY THE VENTURA COUNTY SHERIFFS.IF YOU DONT BELIEVE CALL THE POLICE AND SEE WHO ARRIVES

For those of you who have kids, compare Oxnard to other areas. A school system speaks volumes' about an area. I think Oxnard is really beautiful but not an area that I would feel comfortable raising a family. Its such a shame that these idiots have ruined what otherwise could have been something special. Paradise lost!

When I lived in Fresno in the mid-90s, crime was out of control. The Hmong Gangs, Black Gangs, and Hispanic Gangs pretty much ran the streets. Fresno PD actually started patrolling the city with thier SWAT Team every night, four to a car, fully armed with everything you'd see for a tactical assualt.
Sounds like it's time from OPD's SWAT Team to hit the streets.

just to give my 2cents about Ojai... I grew up in Oak View, moved to Camarillo, and spend pretty much every weekend visiting my grandparents/cousins in Ojai... and that place is garbage! Over priced, nose in the air rich folk who like to think that their kids are perfect when in reality, they're the one's dealing the drugs and banging or the streets like any other gang from a poorer city. So don't try to preach that Ojai is the city of butterflies and rainbows... you just choose to ignore it

i really enjoy reading the mature content and finger pointing that goes on in these discussion boards, especially when its in regards to oxnard!its always interesting to see that this particular city always gets crapped on by outsiders daily! i live in oxnard, im probably one of the younger folks that puts constructive and logical input on these discussions when i feel its relevant. i moved to oxnard at a young age being that im a son of a military man. im from virginia and lived in the following states:florida, new york, new mexico, washington. the cities i lived in had triple the amount of crime opposed to oxnard! im sometimes feeling that its not an issue with the city(in the opinions of all you that bicker), im thinking that you all have a personal issue with race! alotta camarillo/ventura talkers who usually plant there own city's rejects in the city were i walk! i have my ear to the streets in all spectrums just so im aware of my surroundings, and i surely know that ventura and camarillo arent the safest but safer than oxnard. all cities have there ups and downs...but you old farts on this discussion board lived in a time where fistacuffs were the source and solution to beef..nowadays, its apparently different. welcome to 2008 oldies!on another note, alot of the mishaps that happen in these " great lavish neighborhoods", dont get publicised like oxnard does...you all are too ignorant to acknowledge that!!!i'll be waiting patiently for a response.

Ox4me and Sneed_Hearn: way to take a topic, beat it into the ground AND be offensive all at the same time! Yes, everyone has differing opinions, which, the last time I heard, was ok. In fact, everyone has the right to express their opinions, as long as they aren't degrading or offensive. But to start a verbal fight and become personally insulting to one another is just, well, junior high! Grow up, men! If you don't like what each other are saying, then get off the site! Don't perpetuate the hate and anger, Geez!

janabanana 71,
you miss the point completely, its all about standing up to people like snead who empower themselves by selectively prosecuting other communities in order to feel better about themselves. its the righht thing to do,to expose them and not let them get away with it.

It is so sad what Oxnard has come to. Before, I remember it being a calm city. Now, we have to be careful because there are too many "PUNKS" thinking they own Oxnard and they can do what they want.
VOPatrol is right about having to bring in OPD's SWAT Team to take care of business.
And maybe that way we can get our town back.
Posted by Roadking on October 6, 2008 at 8:39 p.m. (Suggest removal)
Unfortunatley some people don't have the luxury to live where they would like eg.finances, family, work, all you need to do is pray you do not become a victim of these egotistical punks that think they own the streets sooner or later YOU WILL GET CAUGHT.WHAT GOES AROUND COMES AROUND.No matter where you live it could happen to you. Peace

odds r, the gangs r winning, theres more gang members than cops, and everyone one else on the side lines, in or around oxnard, with pointing fingers, complaints, expressions, opinions, insalts and or (packing), refusing 2 be a victem r totally responsible and part of the problem as well. ther r more of u then there r of them, so they must be smarter, more clever very creative and with less of means, and THEY DO own the streets, and ALL of ur Neighborhoods, thats why u can't go out at night to buy mike, or go shopping without the fear of ur world being turned inside out. So if u blame the cops, or city counsel, mayor and SWAT for not doing enough, just keep in mind that the mess ur in is ur own fault, for doin nothing for ur self

I must say it was a joy reading these articles so much that I had to put in my opinion. I too was born and raised in Oxnard and would not trade it for nothing in the world. To me this was a dream world. But sorry to say I would not defend this town for nothing, and yes if you are truely from Oxnard you know that Silver Strand is part of Oxnard forget all that Government stuff because we all ended up here or were affiliated with the military in one form or another that's what type of town it was. Yes this is the year 2008 and times have changed, that is the past and yes i want better for my family and that's why I got out of here to.You people that want to say that crime is not bad here you do need to wake up. Do I live were crime is? Of course, but do I live were it is just out of control and the City is Just letting it get worse HECK NO!! I love me and my family too much to stay in a place that is just out of control. Does it sadden me yes. So all I can say is I hope and pray for those of you whose choose or have no choice to be here and hope for the best for you all. We are all the same just trying to live in peace.
I hope the victim makes it thru this ordeal and my regards to his family. What if that was your son in the car. All bad people are not out in the streets early hours sometimes you have to be out there. And please stop blaming everything on gangs its such a cop out. It's easy to say oh he was a gang member and it seems that makes everything alright, well it doesn't.
