Morning Report: Driver who fled crash arrested
Police and Fire: The California Highway Patrol this morning arrested a man who fled the scene of a crash that injured four people near Camarillo last night.
A CHP officer on routine patrol outside Camarillo arrested Brandon Nizdil, 45, of Camarillo after spotting him walking along Center School Road near Highway 118 shortly after 8 a.m., said Officer Matt Winter of the Ventura CHP.
Nizdil was arrested on suspicion of felony hit-and-run and felony driving under the influence of alcohol, then transported to a local hospital, Winter said.
Nizdil allegedly fled from authorities last night after he collided head-on with another motorist on Highway 118 at 9:50 p.m.
Nizdil was driving southbound on Price Road toward Highway 118 westbound when he made a wide right turn onto Highway 118 eastbound and collided with a car heading eastbound, the CHP reported.
Two adults and two juveniles in the eastbound car were injured.
It was not immediately clear this morning whether Nizdil suffered any injuries in the crash.
A CHP officer had obtained Nizdil’s identity information and was attending to the victims of the crash when Nizdil disappeared into a nearby orange grove, Winter said.
The Ventura County Sheriff’s Department helped search for Nizdil with a K-9 team and a helicopter, but authorities did not locate him Thursday night.
The person most seriously injured in the crash was Yvette Houser, 39, of Simi Valley.
Houser suffered major internal injuries, the CHP reported.
She was listed in fair and stable condition at the hospital this morning, said hospital spokesman Jeremy Brewer.
Her husband, David Houser, 43, of Simi Valley, was driving their car eastbound on 118 when the crash occurred. He was transported to a local hospital with a complaint of pain.
Two girls in the car were transported to Simi Valley Hospital with minor to moderate injuries.

The crash was reported at 6:11 a.m.
An ambulance responded to the scene.
At 6:29 a.m., the CHP called for a unit to close the roadway.
At 6:50 a.m., one lane was being reopened.

Weather: Partly cloudy conditions with high temperatures in the 60s at beaches and into the 70s inland are expected today, the National Weather Service reported.

CHP website caught him, he is being tranported to VCMC - probably under the influence because he could walk {run} away. Coward, yes. My prayers are with the family - both of them.

lawabider, you are so on target with your statement. Kennedy, however, was able to avoid arrest and jail time.

ImMadAsHellAndImNotGoingToTakeItAnymore,
I wonder which nationality the name "Bradford Nizdil" hails from?
By the way I think that is the greatest screen name I have EVER seen on this site hahaha....

Adam...the greatest screen name ever belonged to a movie star on the cartoon "Angry Beavers"...his name was Oxnard Montalvo...HA! Almost died when I heard it for the first time.
Anyway, no comment on this Bradford guy, just another drunk or high or texting or talking doofus, we should be used to this by now.

While I agree that Angry Beavers had its merits, I was much more into the NickToons Doug, Ren and Stimpy, and Rocko's Modern Life...and I liked AWWWWW Real Monsters as well, but preferred the others...
Anyhow, the other one is from a movie called Network...definitely a cinematic masterpiece that I think everyone employed the Star ought to see...talk about ratings whores...sadly, Network is more prophecy than fiction nowadays....

The semi truck that crashed was being flipped back up by a Nacho's towing semi-towing rig. As I passed by I noticed the company name of the flipped truck, Nacho's Towing! It was also one of their newest big semi-towing rigs that crashed. I wonder if the driver is going to be fired, then again usually only the top employees or the bosses drive the newest toys.

Okay..so has anyone noticed that it says he was arrested then transported to the hospital..but then it says that it wasn't clear if he had any injuries. Huh? then why was he transported to the hospital. Pretty clear to me that he had some sort of injuries.
