December 13, 2008 Saturday, 1:30-4:00 p.m. (Registration starts @ 1:00 p.m.) Star Wars: The Force Unleashed Tournament Prizes for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place. It's OK to bring your own controller. Bring and donate a can of food to our local food banks and receive a free snack! Snacks for sale by Teen Friends of the Library.
Books-By-Mail For Homebound and Residents of Convalescent Homes Books-by-mail is a free service of the County of Los Angeles Public Library (COLAPL), offered to residents that are homebound, persons in convalescent homes and rural dwellers in the COLAPL service area. Participants need a COLAPL card, which may be obtained from your local library.
To order materials, make your selection from the catalogue available at the library. Detach the order card from the catalogue, and list the book number and title of each item you wish to order. Print your name and address. Mail the completed prepaid order card to the address in the catalogue. When you receive the materials save the shipping bag and mailing label. Return the materials within one month. Place the books in the reusable-shipping bag; reverse the mailing label and place the shipping bag in the mail. Friends of Library Display Case The current display in the Friends of the Library Display Case located in the Friends' Reading Room in the Library is artwork by Friends' volunteer Carol Kruvant Pullman. The display includes watercolor, paintings and creative art. Carol is a member of the Valley Artists Guild (VAG) and received the VAG "Best in Show" at its juried show at the Viva Gallery.
Book Cellar for Great Bargains! Book Cellar Named Best "Literary Mine" In LA and Ventura Counties in LA Weekly Best of LA 2008. We are proud and delighted that LA Weekly "found" the Book Cellar" and said: ..is the greatest... used bookstore in Los Angeles or Ventura Counties!"
Include the Book Cellar on your holiday shopping list with its bargains and great selections. Children, young adults and adult reading enjoyment are available and inexpensive through the Book Cellar. Your purchases in the Book Cellar, which is open every Saturday 10:00 a.m.-4:00 p.m. helps support the library activities. We have wonderful books for children and adults, Books-on-Tape, CDs, DVDs, VHS tapes, magazines and more! Our donations include recent publications as well as best sellers. Paperback books start at $0.50 and hard cover books $1.00. This is a great time to sort through your books, magazines, CDs, DVDs, videos, etc. at home, and donate those you no longer want to the Friends of the Agoura Hills Library so that they may be sold and enable the Friends' support of our library. Your support of the Friends of the Library is very much appreciated.
