Fence Factory Assists in the Rescue Efforts for the Neglected Horses of a Lockwood Valley Ranch

When the Humane Society needed assistance in housing the 50 horses that were rescued from a Lockwood Valley Ranch in Ventura County, they called on Fence Factory. Through the generosity of Fence Factory in Saticoy and their vendors, the Humane Society of Ojai was able to quickly house the neglected and malnourished animals with the corral and shelter panels that were donated to them.

Oaji, CA November 19, 2008 -- A large amount of horses were taken by the Ventura County Animal Control in September and October 2008 from a ranch in Lockwood Valley due to severe abuse and neglect. When the first 14 horses arrived at the shelter, Fence Factory in Saticoy received an urgent call from both VC Animal Control and The Humane Society of Ojai for corrals to separate and contain the horses. Fence Factory was able to ship them several corral panels that same day. They were purchased by the Humane Society at cost. When the additional 37 horses came in to the Humane Society, the organization was overwhelmed with the number of horses that needed to be housed. One of Fence Factory Saticoy's staff members, Suzi DeLong, (an avid horse lover and long time Ojai resident) was very familiar with the shelter and it's director. She felt the organization would be in dire need of more corrals and shelters. The staff at Fence Factory decided to spring into action and asked their suppliers of corrals and shelters to help out with damaged materials at cost. Fence Factory would then be able to donate as much as they could to help the horses that were rescued from the Lockwood Valley Ranch.

Through the efforts of Fence Factory in Saticoy, the Humane Society of Ojai was gifted almost $7,000 worth of corral and shelter panels that same day by one of their long time suppliers, Builder's Fence Company (BFC) of Sun Valley, CO, Western Tube and Conduit of Long Beach, CA. The corral panels have all been assembled on site by volunteers and staff. The shelters, which are very bulky and heavy, were much more difficult to install. In order to get the shelters installed for use, Fence Factory requested assistance from their fence contractors and other customers on Saturday, November 22 to help with the installations.

The horses are currently being housed at the Humane Society of Ojai, where they will be taken care of and supervised until they are healthy enough to be adopted. Because of the large amount of horses that are currently being taken care of, the Humane Society of Ojai is in need of monetary donations, feed gift cards, or any other donations that they may use.
