TO woman found dead near Paula Abdul's house
A Thousand Oaks woman who had an apparent obsession with singer and American Idol judge Paula Abdul was found dead Tuesday outside a home that public records indicate belongs to the celebrity, authorities said.
Police spokeswoman Julianne Sohn says officers responded to a call about 6 p.m. and arrived in the Sherman Oaks area to find an unidentified woman in her 30s.
The woman was found in a vehicle, said Capt. Ed Winter of the Los Angeles County Department of Coroner.
The death is under investigation and appears to be a suicide, authorities said.
Sohn could not confirm that the home belonged to Abdul, but public records show she owns a home near the site where the body was found.
A relative of the Thousand Oaks woman reported her missing about three hours before she was found, said Ventura County Sheriff's spokesman Capt. Ross Bonfiglio. The family member said the woman was last seen about 11 p.m. Monday.
The woman had a documented history of mental health issues, and Los Angeles police told Sheriff's officials she had an apparent obsession with Abdul, Bonfiglio said.
A message left for Abdul's publicist Stephanie Sher was not immediately returned.

More info...
A car with a dead woman inside found parked outside Paula Abdul's house is registered to Paula Goodspeed, a former American Idol contestant and self-described "really big fan" of Abdul.
The woman's car featured a license plate "ABL LV" and had a photo of Abdul hanging from the rear view mirror, according to Fox News video taken at the scene. A DMV check of the license showed that the car is registered to Goodspeed, 30.

hotwildflower...hey now...you might be the ultimate fan here! Although I did go and see Ms Abdul in concert at The Forum in the late 80's/early 90's. Magic Johnson showed up and did a "retirement" ceremony for Paula's Laker Girl uniform.
Paula's songs were fun to dance to!
Freaky that the deceased is also named Paula. I wonder if she changed her first name or if this was really her first name.
All kidding aside, I can't imagine being obsessed with someone to the point that you would kill yourself. How awful.

I am not the ultimate fan, I cheated and had to look up songs beyond "Straight up".
This is truly sad, I don't mean to make light of it. I just couldn't what would be going through her head to take such measures.
I actually feel sorry for Paula Abdul to be the subject of this...how creepy is her house gonna feel now??

Mental illness is a tragic thing that often goes untreated. My heart goes out to her family and friends who must now grieve.
It doesn't make a difference who she was obsessed with. She suffered from mental illness. We should show some compassion for her and not make fun of her.
