Dana Rene Bowler / Star staff Oaks Christian School running back Malcolm Jones finds a hole in the Oak Park defense en route to his second touchdown in the first quarter on Friday night.

The scariest hit of a Halloween runaway came midway through the fourth quarter, when an Oak Park High ballcarrier was forced out of bounds into Bill Redell.

When he regained his feet and proved he wasn't hurt, the Oaks Christian head coach explained that he wasn't blindsided.

"I just couldn't move like I used to," said Redell.

The opposite may be true for Redell's resurgent football team, which argued it was even better than its previous incarnation by avenging one of its few regular-season losses of a year ago.

Marshall Jones scored five first-half touchdowns as the Oaks Christian football team defeated rival Oak Park, 54-0, Friday night at Agoura High.

These two teams have played so many pressure-packed league and playoff deciders in recent years, but the Eagles' 25-20 Tri-Valley League upset last October seemed decades away Friday.

"They may be a little down from how good they've been," explained Redell. "We're probably a little bit better than we were last year."

Nick Montana completed 10 of 17 passes for 237 yards and three touchdowns and Jones finished with 12 carries for 120 yards, four rushing touchdowns and a 23-yard screen pass he turned into a fifth score.

"I wanted to show what I'm capable of," said Jones.

Neither played more than a handful of snaps in the second half as Oaks Christian scored 40-plus points for the seventh straight game.

Focused on CIF glory come winter, Oaks Christian has outscored its three Tri-Valley League opponents 171-0 entering next week's battle of unbeatens against Santa Clara.

"That's what drives us every day and practice and makes us show how good we are," said Jones.

The undefeated Lions have outscored their eight opponents, 378-41. Oak Park (3-5, 1-1) was limited to five first downs and 87 yards of total offense.

The Eagles had a chance to spoil Oaks Christian's third straight shutout after a reserve fumbled on the Lions' 6-yard line late in the fourth quarter, but Brennan Monro preserved the streak with an interception.

Jones galloped for scores of 16, 21 and 2 yards in the first quarter. He raced to a 32-yard scoring run before diving across the goal line in the second quarter.

But his favorite was the 23-yard screen pass from Montana, which included an open-field spin through would-be tacklers.

"I like my screen pass," said Jones. "I put on a couple of moves and got upfield."

Montana also hit Chris Judge for a 16-yard touchdown and Arizona State-bound tight end Chris Coyle with a 67-yard scoring strike.

Reserve quarterback Tony Macarena connected with Scott Arellano for a 23-yard scoring strike in the fourth quarter.

Arellano, the Lions' punter, also blocked a punt in the second half.
