Dogs Must Be On Leash
Love your dog by keeping him or her safe. Rancho Simi Recreation and Park District wants to remind you that dogs must be on leash at all times on District properties.
Although you may feel your dog won't hurt anyone, jump up on a child, senior, or other park patron, chase a squirrel into the street causing a car accident, or get in a fight with another dog, there is evidence on a daily basis to the contrary. Park rangers, District staff, police and other authorities deal with the aftermath of normally nice dogs who got into circumstances the owner didn't expect.
Park rangers are authorized to issue citations to anyone found with their dog off leash in a public park, open space, trail, or other District property in both Simi Valley and Oak Park. The fine for these citations may exceed $350.00.
"Our primary interest is to educate the public on the rules of the park", said District General Manager Larry Peterson. "Our rules were developed years ago to ensure that our beautiful parks can be shared by everyone. This sharing of public property requires all of us to be respectful of each other."
More information about park rules and regulations and park ranger authority may be viewed on the District's website, www.rsrpd.org. Questions regarding this and other District issues may be directed through the webmaster who will forward them to the appropriate staff member for response, or you may call (805) 584-4400.
