Cuthbert shoots 74 in last CIF postseason tourney

More from GolfRio Mesa golfer Jordan Cuthbert completed a strong postseason run with a solid performance in Thursday's CIF-Southern California Championship at the SCGA Member's Course in Murietta.
Cuthbert, a junior, fired a 2-over 74, a round that included four birdies and six bogeys.
Santa Barbara's Andrew Perez and Hart's Johnny MacArthur tied for medalist honors at 5-under 67. The same two players tied at last week's CIF-Southern Section finals.
Perez's low round helped Santa Barbara claim the team title with a score of 355. Clovis West and Sunny Hills tied for second at 361.
"The greens were tricky and Jordan had a little trouble with them," said Rio Mesa coach Tom Radford. "He had three lip-outs."
Cuthbert finished the tournament strong, making birdies on two of his final four holes. He was hoping to claim one of the six spots in next week's State Tournament, but to do that he would have needed to finish with a score of 2-under 70.
"Jordan had a great year," Radford said. "His goal was to go further in the playoffs this year than he did as a sophomore and he did that. I'm sure he will use today as a learning experience to help him next year."
