CONEJO BULLDOGS PREVAIL
California Cup
Highlights: Conejo Bulldogs — The under-13 boys team finished 7-0, including a 3-0 championship win over the Stanford Lightning on Monday at Moorpark College. The team members are Jed McGuigan, Austin Kodama, Trent Warren, Michael Hirsch, Nicholas Ziolkowski, Graeme Davis, Matthew Carter, Ryan Pettibone, Eric Wu, Evan Walike and Sean Cicchi.
BASEBALL
RANGERS 5, YANKEES 4
Simi Valley Baseball League
Highlights: Rangers — The Major Division Rangers concluded regular-season play with a dramatic extra-inning win. Skylar Smutny and Colton Follett combined pitching duties, allowing four runs on seven hits with two walks and recording six strikeouts. Follett earned the win pitching through the heart of the Yankee order in the seventh inning, allowing no runs. James Cuillard beat out an infield hit to start the bottom of the seventh inning. With Cuillard running, A.J. West put down a perfect sacrifice bunt and, as Cuillard stole third base, Cuillard scored the game-winner on an errant throw. Cuillard was on base three times and scored three runs. West drove in three runs. Joey Gydosh singled and scored a run. Chris Randolph and Anthony Torres combined to throw out a runner at the plate from left field in the fifth inning. Chris Westrup, Wyatt Birg and Angel Acuna all played well on defense.
VENOM WINS CHAMPIONSHIP
Santa Susana Memorial Day Tournament
Highlights: Ventura County Venom — The Pinto Division team went undefeated. The team is coached by Mike Mitchell, Wayne Breukner, and Randy Blum. The boys battled hard and played amazing baseball. The Venom defeated teams from Westlake, Simi Valley, La Crescenta and Encino. Ventura County Venom has been playing together for almost one year, but plays like it has been longer. Good pitching, aggressive baserunning and timely hitting resulted in a championship.
OXNARD BLUE DEVILS WIN CHAMPIONSHIP
Camarillo Memorial Day Tournament
Highlights: Oxnard Blue Devils — By going 3-0 in the elimination games, the Blue Devils beat Santa Maria Rage, 7-1, and in the semifinals beat Santa Paula, 7-2. In the championship, the Blue Devils beat the Ventura County Scorpions from Camarillo, 10-9. The Blue Devils had three home runs in the title game, two by Anthony Salazar and one by Justin Robles. Robles had a grand slam in the semifinals and three homers in the tournament. The Blue Devils are Ricardo Vasquez, Matt Contreras, Alex Torrez, Blake Diaz, Joshua Arroyo, Eli Ontiveros, Jesse Boldavino, Nick Davis, Robles, Salazar and Peter Hartin. Coaches are David Diaz, Gabe Ontiveros and Anthony Benvelos. Ricardo Vasquez is the manager. Al Torrez is a coach. Jaime Arroyo serves as business manager.

PACIFIC FURY BLACK WINS CHAMPIONSHIP
UPG Memorial Weekend Classic
Highlights: Pacific Fury Black — The 17-and-under team won the Silver Bracket of the tournament in Orange County. The Fury went 5-0 defeating the OC Rhythm, 54-28, Cal Swish Blue, 52-45, Arizona Best Phenoms, 39-23, and TSIN Black, 37-33, to make it to the championship game. The Fury defeated Arizona Premier, 35-28, to win the tournament on Monday at Vanguard University. Erin Dautremont (Chaminade) was named tournament MVP and Doris Park-Sherman (Newbury Park) was selected to the all-tournament team. Other Fury players who contributed in the tournament were Jenna Bandy (Thousand Oaks), Sidney Dobner (Newbury Park), Eda Graham (Nordhoff), Lindsay Jesseman (Thousand Oaks), Nicole Messner (Ventura), Gabrielle Root (Villanova), Erica Whitley (St. Bonaventure) and Anne Yoshimura (Camarillo). TEAM CONCEPT FINISHES SIXTH
UPG Memorial Weekend Classic
Highlights: Team Concept — The seventh-grade girls finished sixth in a tournament featuring teams from Arizona, California and Utah. Orange County saw hundreds of teams from all levels battling for placement in the Oregon Trail qualifier. Team Concept held its own over the three-day event and pushed hard to a sixth-place finish. Tournament totals: Katherine Reaves averaged a double-double with 57 points and 54 rebounds. Shaunna Borenstein scored 22 points and had seven rebounds. Mariah Kemph scored 15 points and had nine steals. Kianna Landon scored 15 points and had 19 rebounds. Megan Kolakowski had 14 points and 13 rebounds. Cassie McCleod scored 14 points and had seven rebounds. Lindsay Neuner scored 12 points and had 15 rebounds. 805 HIVE WINS TITLE
Oxnard Swoosh Memorial Day Classic
Highlights: 805 Hive — Sam Scahefer had 51 points, 13 rebounds, three steals and a block to lead Simi Valley team to a championship in the three-game tournament. The 805 Hive defeated the Ventura Heat, 48-29, for the championship. Jeremy Harry contributed 34 points, 13 rebounds, six assists and three steals. Abel Guevara added 19 points, 11 rebounds, one assist and two steals. Matt Padavick had 23 points, four rebounds, three assists and two steals. Ren Westerline came through with 14 points, two rebounds and three steals. Ryan Botsford had four points and five rebounds. Fernando Estevez had four points and a rebound. Ian Mitchell had four points, five rebounds and a steal. Brendan Clifford had four points, five rebounds, one steal and one block. Jose Hernandez had two rebounds.
