UCLA, USC tied at NCAA tournament
UCLA's Kevin Chappell shot a 3-under-par 69 on Wednesday and the Bruins were tied with rival USC after the first round of the NCAA men's Division I golf championship at West Lafayette, Ind.
Oklahoma State was one stroke back at 298, and Clemson and Kent State were tied for fourth at 301.
USC's Tim Sluiter and Kent State's David Markle were both one stroke behind Chappell and they were the only players to break par.
Ochoa withdraws from Sorenstam's tournament: Lorena Ochoa withdrew from the Ginn Tribute at Mount Pleasant, S.C., putting the top-ranked player's duel with tournament host Annika Sorenstam on hold.
Ochoa left for Mexico on Tuesday night, saying in a statement that her uncle was ill.
"I am very sorry to have to withdraw," Ochoa said. "I need to be with my uncle and my family right now."

Graham jury reaches verdict on one count
Federal jurors deliberating the fate of track coach Trevor Graham reached a verdict on one of three counts that he lied to investigators probing steroid use in sports, but told the judge they are "hopelessly deadlocked" on the other two.
U.S. District Judge Susan Illston read the panel instructions for a deadlocked jury and sent it back for further deliberations. Less than an hour later, the 12-person jury wrapped up their first full day of deliberations without coming to a conclusion on the other counts.
The jury was set to resume deliberations today.
Sauerbrun pleads guilty to disturbing the peace: Former Denver Broncos punter Todd Sauerbrun pleaded guilty to disturbing the peace in a confrontation with a taxi driver last December and was sentenced to perform 24 hours of community service.
