New principal named for Oak Park High
Andrea Mallen was appointed as the new principal of Oak Park High School by the Oak Park Unified School District board Tuesday night. Mallen will take over beginning July 1.
Mallen currently is an assistant principal at Palm Desert High School in the Desert Sands Unified School District. Before that, she was the founding principal of The High School at Moorpark College, which provides students the opportunity to earn a high school diploma while obtaining college credits.
She also was a counselor for 12 years at Moorpark High School and an elementary and middle school teacher.
Mallen "is highly regarded in her current district and was also held in high esteem in Moorpark," said Oak Park Unified Superintendent Tony Knight. "She brings a wealth of high school experiences, and her background in counseling will be invaluable."
Oak Park High's current principal, Lynn McCormack, will be retiring after four years at the school and a total of 37 years as an educator.
