Joni and Friends center continues to grow
Joni and Friends International Disability Center moved into its new headquarters in Agoura Hills in March 2007, with a grand opening the following month.
Officials say progress since then may be gauged in a variety of ways.
Joni and Friends' nationwide staff has grown from 101 a year ago to 117 today, said spokeswoman Donna Rousseve.
In the same period, the number of employees at the International Disability Center grew from 65 to 69, she said.
Among new developments are the Christian Institute on Disability.
It launched its first internship program last month with students from Biola University in La Mirada.
Also new is a half-hour, weekly television show that accents people's questions about "the goodness of God shattered by pain and suffering," said spokesman Steve Appel.
The show began airing in October on National Religious Broadcasting and expanded in February to the Trinity Broadcasting Network.
The show incorporates footage from around the world and is produced locally, said Appel. It is seen in the United States, China, the Middle East, Indonesia, Australia and Canada, he said.
Also new is a second intern program that will begin in mid-July, he said.
