S.V. teams play championship games this weekend

The top-seeded Simi Valley High softball team will play third-seeded Valencia on Saturday at 6 p.m. in the CIF-Southern Section Division I championship game at Deanna Manning Stadium in Irvine.

Simi Valley (30-0) beat Norco 1-0 on Tuesday to advance to the championship game for the first time since 1993 while defending Division I champion Valencia beat Corona Santiago 3-2.

The Simi Valley baseball team also faces the defending champion in its Division I championship game. The Pioneers (24-8) play Long Beach Wilson on Friday at 7:30 p.m. at Dodger Stadium.

Simi Valley, which captured the CIF baseball title in 2004, beat Mater Dei 6-5 in 11 innings on Tuesday night in the semifinals and Wilson beat Norco 5-3.
