SCLA Champion Agoura Finishes Season First in Southern California; Second in State
Agoura Lacrosse finished its season with a record of 13 wins and 2 losses and rated #1 for Southern California club lacrosse teams for 2008.
As a result of its #1 Southern California rating, Agoura was invited to the High School Lacrosse State Championships held in Novata, California over Memorial Day. In the semi-final game on Saturday, Agoura beat the Petaluma Lacrosse Club 9-7. Agoura was led by seniors Mike Cammorata, Chris Hogg and defenseman Stephen Cordial. As a result of its victory Agoura advanced to the championship game and was beaten by San Rafael's Red Hawks Lacrosse Club from the Bay Area 12-6. According to SCLA All-American senior midfielder Mike Cammorata who has committed to play at the University of Arizona in the fall, "the Red Hawks were big, aggressive and deserved to win, yet with all the great players on the Agoura team, I'm convinced the state championship will belong to Agoura next year."
