Ventura Jets will make home debut Saturday
Home, at last.
After starting the season 2-2 with four road contests, the Ventura Jets of the West Coast Pro Basketball League will make their local debut with home games Saturday at Sunday at Ventura College.
The Jets will play the Carlsbad Beach Dawgs beginning at 7:05 p.m. on Saturday, and will take on the Santa Barbara Breakers starting at 2:05 p.m. on Sunday.
The first-year Jets are led by 6-foot-8 Jermaine Small, averaging 23.3 points and 10.0 rebounds, and former Ventura College standout Elijah Muldrow, a 6-3 point guard averaging 21.7 points and 6.3 assists.
Shooting guard Julius Samuels is averaging 19.8 points per game, while 6-6 forward Kenny Plummer takes down 7.4 rebounds per game.
Carlsbad is topped by recent Cal State Fullerton graduate Frank Robinson and former Cal State Northridge player Armand Thomas.
Santa Barbara sports touted 6-0 Josh Merrill, a graduate of UC Santa Barbara with averages 21.1 points, 8.9 rebounds and 1.5 blocks.
For Saturday's game, children 17 and under are admitted free while adults pay $8. Ticket prices Sunday are $8 for adults and $4 for children.
