Morning Report: Burglar steals meat from Mexican market

Police and Fire: Someone broke into a Mexican market in Simi Valley early this morning and made off with an unidentified amount of meat, police said.

Officers responding about 3 a.m. to an alarm call at the Mercado Guadalajara at 1616 Los Angeles Avenue found the front window smashed, said Sgt. Alan Thompson of the Simi Valley Police Department.

Investigators later determined meat was missing from the store.

Details about the missing meat were not immediately available this morning.

----------

Traffic: At 6:52 a.m., the California Highway Patrol was reporting a non-injury traffic collision on Lomita Avenue at La Luna Avenue in Meiners Oaks.

----------

Weather: Mostly sunny and windy weather with high temperatures in the lower 70s is expected throughout the county this morning, the National Weather Service reported.

Partly cloudy conditions are expected county wide this afternoon.

A high wind warning is in effect through 9 a.m. today for local mountains, where gusts up to 65 miles per hour are expected.

Twenty to 25 mile per hour winds with gusts higher are expected in the rest of the county.

A high surf advisory is in effect through 3 a.m. Friday for local beaches, where waves as high as 12 feet are expected.

Strong rip currents are also predicted.

If "ranchera" is missing we know who did it, if chicken is missing we know who did it. If winnies and burger meat is missing we know who did it.

so what...did the cow moo in spanish, I mean really!?? meat is meat...

This actually is very scary, the cost of groceries going up like they are, I wouldn't be surprised if this is just the beginning of a real problem.

I'm with you N_Cash, let's start building. Maybe we could use a tax on oil company profits to pay for this...that should be a more than sufficient amount of money.

Maybe our local detectives may visit all picnics this weekend and if anybody is having a big cookoutmaybe they can locate the culprits.
Just food for thought

N cash
now where did it state that it was a mexican that stole the meat I think your critism should stay indoors if you don't have anything good to say especially if your gonna make a statement like that. That is what's wrong with the county too many chiefs but not enough indians....

Right Right junior mafia now hopefully n cash will watch their step lol... I just think that there is enough critism in the world that you don't have to point fingers because there not in court anymore.

n-cash 'The real problem isn't going to be solved until we build a 2,000-mile long, 20-foot high, 10-foot thick wall, topped with razor wire and gun turrets manned 24 hours a day by sharpshooters armed with high-powered rifles.'

Have fun building your wall. lol. hope you get alot of volunteers to help you out as well, if not you have a big job ahead of you.

hacking into the STAR's site, and stealing IP addresses is illegal. and most people on these forums are at work. you going to track them down to their cubicle?
mexican market, indian market, american market. it does not matter. a thief is a thief. they should all be taken out and have their hand chopped off. probably wont be re-offending that way!

Posted by spulido805 on May 22, 2008 at 3:32 p.m. (Suggest removal)

so true fedup I was just wondering how n cash can say that it was a mexican who did this and I don't think it was their intention to hack an IP address but only to inform others that if they say the wrong thing that they can be caught up in something that can be bad for them

Posted by FedUp on May 22, 2008 at 3:49 p.m. (Suggest removal)

I hear you spulido. but keep in mind, veiled threats on the internet can be taken seriously as well. your IP address can be had just as easily as theirs....

I'll take 5lbs of marinated carne asada.

Posted by FedUp on May 22, 2008 at 4:26 p.m. (Suggest removal)

sorry, they can easily be misinterpreted as threats. this is the internet. not everything comes across the way it sounds in your head. and bigoted or not, they are allowed to voice their opinion as they seem fit. freedom of speech. something this country "use" to be so good at.

Posted by FedUp on May 22, 2008 at 4:51 p.m. (Suggest removal)

"predominantly Mexican county."

last time I checked, ventura county is in the united states, not mexico. this is an american county, lets get that straight first.

I THINK THEY STOLE IT FOR MEMORIAL DAY...YOU'LL FIND THIS PERSON EITHER THROWING THE BIGGEST BBQ OR SELLING MEAT ON THE STREETS.

Well Fedup, demographically speaking, Ventura is a mostly Mexican county, you know, meaning it is inhabited mostly by people of Mexican descent.

WHERES THE BEEF ?

Posted by UCSBguy on May 22, 2008 at 7:42 p.m. (Suggest removal)

haha look at junior mafia, trying to be an e-thug. Do you really know how IP works? You really think VC star is that easy to hack? even if you get their IP, the only thing you'll find out is their location and not their addresses and stuff. You'll have to hack their provider too to get information. I doubt you'll spend that much time just to find out their information. Please, stop trying to be an e-thug. I'll even give you my IP if you want and see what you can do with it.

Anyways, back to the topic.. don't they have surveillance camera in that store? All mini mart should have a surveillance camera...

Posted by spulido805 on May 22, 2008 at 8:02 p.m. (Suggest removal)

uc sbguy I dont think that they are trying to be an ethug but only responding to stupid remarks such as n cash has sent in I don't think it was a threat but only a warning to watch what is being said because the county has a large population of MEXICANS and I am one of them so I didn't like what was said so again with all do respect I don't think it was a threat intended

Posted by gman2398 on May 22, 2008 at 8:25 p.m. (Suggest removal)

Well then UCSB, whats your ip address? If you talk the talk....

We'll UCSBguy lets see, tell me if this is you: 26 M, College grad, wears glasses, Likes: Animals, Cuddling, Dance, smart boys and the disney channel.
Is this you? funny thing this internet.

I'm pretty sure that if I post my IP address, vc staff will delete it since I thought I read you cannot post such information on their discussion boards.

If I'm a vcstaff, I'd probably see that spulido, juniormafia, gman, and spy805 are the same person. I could make assumptions to you sy805 but I'm not going to do it because it's not related to the topic isnt. At least I'm going to college spy.. what about you?

Anyways, if I bet the culprit is one of the employees.

Posted by gman2398 on May 22, 2008 at 9:27 p.m. (Suggest removal)

UCSB I'm not those other people. You were bragging about the ip thing and I called you out on it. That's all. I read the paper online every day and sometimes I comment.

Posted by Ms_California on May 23, 2008 at 8:30 a.m. (Suggest removal)

OMG people.. settle down! What is the use of an IP address if you aren't threatening them? I mean com'on.. don't we have enough violence and threats in our city, county and world! Drop the whole IP address location issue and try to find out who has all the meat so we can drop by and enjoy some of it! I got the cervezas and lime!

mmshoot - good suggestion for a revised title.

Posted by FedUp on May 23, 2008 at 8:56 a.m. (Suggest removal)

"Well Fedup, demographically speaking, Ventura is a mostly Mexican county, you know, meaning it is inhabited mostly by people of Mexican descent."

no, you are wrong. hispanics make up less than 50% of the citizens in ventura county. if you factor in the illegals, well, that might bring the number up a bit.

and yes, I probably do need a new prescription for my glasses. I am as blind as a bat.

Posted by FedUp on May 23, 2008 at 9:56 a.m. (Suggest removal)

juniormafia - while it may seem like hispanics (see how I dont generalize) make up a large majority of ventura county, the latest census numbers say otherwise. however, since the census numbers do not factor in the illegals inhabiting this area, I think you are probably right.
I do agree with you, but official numbers say differently.

Posted by FedUp on May 23, 2008 at 10:31 a.m. (Suggest removal)

"Why on Earth would illegal immigrants participate in a Census'

um, they cannot participate in a census. if I am not mistaken, they are taken off of SS #'s. we are purely speculating here.

I dont really understand where the rest of your rant is coming from.

Posted by UCSBguy on May 23, 2008 at 12:26 p.m. (Suggest removal)

um.. mmshoot me using scare tactics? I think you have me confused with mafia... read again.

Posted by jill on May 23, 2008 at 12:41 p.m. (Suggest removal)

Stolen from the market? It was stolen from the animals!

Posted by UCSBguy on May 23, 2008 at 1:22 p.m. (Suggest removal)

I guess nobody here can't read english. Why would I be scared if I'm not the one who said "scare tactics?"

I say the person who stole the meat is just moving the economy. he/she stole the meat, store buys more meat, surveillance equipment, etc... drives economy.

Posted by UCSBguy on May 23, 2008 at 1:52 p.m. (Suggest removal)

hehe you don't give a damn about mexican meat markets. Be careful shoot, people might get offended because you don't care about the market and you know, this is a predominantly mexican county so you better start caring or someone's going to get your IP and shank you...

Posted by UCSBguy on May 23, 2008 at 2:15 p.m. (Suggest removal)

I just don't want vcstar to ban me for not staying to the topic junior mafia.

Posted by UCSBguy on May 23, 2008 at 2:31 p.m. (Suggest removal)

The reason I said that you don't know anything about IP addresses because YOU are using scare tactics. If you did your research.. here "http://www.go4expert.com/forums/showt... You'll know that if someone wants your IP, he/she will only know the location of the ISP and not the user itself unless they subpoena the ISP to reveal the user's location.

I cannot post my IP here because my IP constantly changes. I'm not at home so even if I post my IP, it's not going to do you any good. We all know here that we're in Oxnard.

Yes.. back to the topic. Not all mini marts have surveillance cameras. Some are bogus and just for show and if this meat market has one, like I said the employees probably stole it since they probably knew it's a bogus camera and they know they can get away with it.

Wow, what a load of old bullocks over a very small article. It is a shame this much energy cannot be directed to do some good somewhere.

Posted by Face on May 23, 2008 at 3:57 p.m. (Suggest removal)

Open a command line and type "ping www.venturacountystar.com" you won't get a response, but you will get their IP address. Have fun. Also, people in the know use anonymizers to hide their true IP. Not sure what that has to do with Mexican Meat Thieves but there you are. We shouldn't criticize other people's cultures. In world with African Penis Thieves and witch burnings in Kenya, Mexican Meat Thieves are pretty low on the culturally absurd scale.

Would people feel different if it was a "Filipino meat market"?

Posted by Face on May 24, 2008 at 1:12 p.m. (Suggest removal)

Yes, it would be even funnier. Not as funny as a "White meat market" though.
