Suspect arrested in stabbing case

Oxnard police said Tuesday that they have arrested a suspect in the stabbing of a 22-year-old man Saturday at a gas station at Fifth Street and Victoria Avenue.

Colin Jones, 18, was arrested Sunday on suspicion of attempted murder, police said. Jones was contacted by authorities and turned himself in, police said.

A road-rage incident triggered the stabbing at the Arco station, authorities said. The victim was treated at St. John's Regional Medical Center in Oxnard and released.

Jones was being held at Ventura County Jail in lieu of $1 million bail, police said.

Because they have the same first name, you think they may be related?
I can just assume you haven't woken up fully yet.

If this was over who got to the gas pump first, I can understand the frustration (not the shooting, mind you). Arco has a policy of not putting arrows so it's a crap shoot getting to the pump before someone else beats you to it.
My husband works at an Arco, and people continually get in verbal altercations where he thinks someone is going to throw a punch. There have also been several fender benders as people race to get to the pump first.

If you pay attention, you don't have to worry about it. If you need arrows, you probably need someone to pump the gas for you too.

If "Colin" was arrested, then who was "Callin" the police?

Cool this guy is second runner up for idiot of the year award in Oxnard for 2008! This Goomba is right behind the 19 rear old that rear ended a police car that was stopped at an intersection recently. You know the guy who was driving without a license while intoxicated and with a warrant?! :-) I sure wish no one outside Oxnard could read about the idiots we have in this city. I guess he'll be going from just Colin to swollen colon now?

Why would people be racing to the gas pump to pay higher prices anyway.. Oh I know because every time you blink the prices go up. They were trying to get in there before they blinked! Now seriously, what an idiot to stab someone over road rage... people need to settledown and relax. I have had my share of road rage but have NEVER gotten out to stab someone over it! Have some self control people!

He's 18 yrs old & he's experiencing road rage. What an angry guy. Jail is going to bring out his true "anger" issues. Hope he isn't allowed to take his knife in the pen. Why is he carrying a knife anyway? Sounds like he's looking for a fight. Hope someone beats him up - maybe he'll learn to control himself.

Just another stupid "gas-hole" in oxnard.

It said a road rage incident triggered the stabbing, it doesn't say they were fighting over a pump.

I did not know the story reported he used a knife to stab the person. could have been a screwdriver, or a pencil, or a ?????

road rage is almost understandable now. there are so many dummies on the road nowadays. how about you put your makeup, coffee, cell phone, etc down and focus on the road.

Lol-you guys in your comments. I'm here at work laughing to myself. It's not funny that this 22 year old got stabbed, but come on 1 millon dollar bail??? Even murders get less bail than this.

The congestion at this particular ARCO is incredible. I've seen more than one near altercation at this station Too many cars coming in too many directions...they actually need someone to direct traffic. Still no reason to stab someone over a frickin gas pump..if that was the cause.

with gas so expensive now days there will be no violence tolerated at gas stations. If you would like to stab someone please take it across the parking lot to Jack n the Box, bail is only $20,000 there

This guy has no right to have road dage, he has been caught by the police 3 times within 2 years. all for traffic violations. Its not that others dont know how to drive, its that HE does not know how to drive

Why are some people using this tragic incident as an opportunity to comment on high gas prices... get over it. We can't do anything to affect them. We are practically slaves to the gas industry. If this same problem occurred at a grocery store... would everyone who commented on high gas prices say it was due to the increase in food prices?... NO. As for what I believe... I think that the "suspect" stabbed the man in self-defense. However, thats my opinion and I am in no position to determine the fate of that young man. The only way to find out is to let the courts determine who was in the wrong.

dortega, what in the article makes you believe he did it in self defense?
