Film premiere parties to aid women's group
The premiere of the movie "Sex and the City" will serve as a fundraiser for Women's Economic Ventures.
Participants will receive a custom-made "fab bag" and attend pre-parties at several downtown Ventura women-owned businesses for cocktails. A "Sex and the City" character look-alike contests also will take place.
The parties will kick off at 6:30 p.m. May 30 at Weaver Wines, Cafe Fiore, Caffe Bella and The Good Bar.
The movie will start at 9 p.m. at Century Downtown 10, 555 E. Main St.,Ventura. The after party will be at Aqua Lounge at Crowne Plaza, 450 E. Harbor Blvd., Ventura.

PrintMasters is Small Business of the Year
Assemblyman Cameron Smyth, R-Santa Clarita and the California Small Business Association have named PrintMasters in Simi Valley as the Small Business of the Year for the 38th Assembly District.
PrintMasters is a family-owned printing company that has operated in Simi Valley since 1983. For years, the business has donated print products and many other charitable items throughout the community.
Michelle Foster, owner-operator of PrintMasters, is also a council member for Simi Valley.

Gator Run to benefit search dog group
The Rotary Club of Simi Sunset will present the Gator Run 5K/10K on Sunday.
The major benefactor of the event will be the National Disaster Search Dog Foundation, which will use the money to train a search-and-rescue dog with a Ventura County firefighter. The foundation receives no government funding and relies on supporters throughout the country to provide the services.
The Gator Run, held in conjunction with the Simi Valley Cajun Creole Festival, is sponsored by Dole, Road Runner Sports, Oakridge Athletic Club, Santa Barbara Bank & Trust, Core Fitness Boot Camp and Mike & Lynn Nolan MLP Financial & Insurance Services.
