Morning Report: Heat wave subsides, sunny and warm weather continues

Weather: Sunny and warm conditions are expected in most of the county today, but high temperatures should be much lower than during last week's heat wave, the National Weather Service reported.

High temperatures in the 80s are expected in inland parts of the county today.

On the coast, highs in the upper 70s are expected after morning low clouds and fog clear up.

Clouds are expected to linger at beaches through the afternoon.

A high wind advisory is scheduled to go into effect this afternoon for local mountains, where gusts up to 55 miles per hour are expected.

The wind advisory is scheduled to last through Wednesday morning then be replaced by a high wind watch. The high wind watch which is scheduled through Thursday morning.

Gusts to 65 miles per hour are possible Wednesday morning through Thursday morning, the weather service reported.

Traffic: At 7 a.m., the California Highway Patrol was reporting a traffic collision on Vineyard Avenue just north of Central Avenue outside Ventura. An ambulance responded to the scene.

It was a morning of odd traffic hazards: At 6:45 a.m., the CHP was reporting a computer moniter causing a traffic hazard in a lane of Highway 126 at Telegraph Road near Fillmore. At 5:58 a.m., someone reported turkeys causing a traffic hazard on Creek Road just east of Ventura Avenue in Casitas Springs, but the person who reported the troublesome birds was able to chase them off the roadway, the CHP reported.

Police and Fire: Last night and this morning were quiet and routine, law enforcement and fire officials said.
