Heteniak helps DePaul advance

Royal High graduate Becca Heteniak helped pitched the DePaul softball team into the Evanston (Ill.) Regional finals.

Heteniak, the sophomore All-American, struck out 10 and scattered four hits in Friday's 3-1 win over Drake.

After DePaul lost Saturday's first game, 6-0 to Northwestern, Heteniak allowed one hit in five innings, striking out six in a 6-0 victory over Western Illinois in the losers bracket final.

Camarillo High graduate Lindsey Dean finished the game on the mound for DePaul, striking out two in two innings.

Heteniak, who has won her last 15 decisions, improved to 34-6.

The Blue Demons (50-17) advanced to the regional final today against Northwestern. They will have to beat Northwestern twice to reach next weekend's Super Regionals.
