Chemicals found at Hells Angels site
Detectives conducting a search of a Hells Angels clubhouse Friday uncovered a large quantity of hazardous chemicals in a pit under a false floor, authorities said.
A search warrant was executed at 65 Fix Way in Ventura at 10 a.m., according to a statement from the Ventura County Sheriff's Department.
Authorities found potentially dangerous electrical wiring and a large pit containing petroleum distillates during the search.
The purpose of the chemicals was not immediately available.
Fire and environmental hazards in the clubhouse prompted inspections by the Ventura City Fire Department, Ventura City Code Enforcement and the Ventura County Environmental Health Division.
Southern California Edison officials shut off power to the structure, which was red-tagged to prevent further occupancy pending corrections and cleanup, authorities said.
Meanwhile, former Ventura Hells Angels leader George Christie faces two counts of felony drug possession and one misdemeanor count of being under the influence of a controlled substance, authorities said.
Christie, 61, was scheduled to be arraigned in Ventura County Superior Court on Friday, but the proceeding was continued two weeks so Christie's attorney, who was out of state attending his daughter's graduation, could be present, Senior Deputy District Attorney Derek Malan said.
Christie is expected to be charged with felony methamphetamine and cocaine possession and a misdemeanor count of being under the influence of those substances, Malan said. The charges stem from small amounts of the drugs found in an April 25 sheriff's search of Christie's Ventura home, according to authorities.

This must have been some search warrant that listed looking for bad electrical wiring as a criminal activity.

When is this group of riff raff going to learn that the people of this county stand for law and order? The people of this county stand solidly behind their police department and will not allow any group to operate outside of the law!
In this case, it sounds like the Hells Angels themselves should be grateful because the very Club House they hang out in may have toxic air.
Thank you Ventura County Sheriff's Department for gong the extra mile to protect us and serve us.

I'm pretty sick and tired of all gangs, whether it be hispanic, white power, hells angels or what have you. They're all losers, a bunch of cowards and punks who apparently need to belong to a criminal group in order to feel accepted and strong. They can't excel on their own. I mean, I can sort of understand high school kids with loser parents being drawn into a gang, but George Christie is 61 fricken years old! How pathetic is that?

First DA Bradbury was made to look like an ass when he went after them about seven years ago. Now it seems his successor, Totten, is determined to repeat the mistake. None of this would bother me if it were not costing taxpayer dollars.

mmshoot now search warrants are being used for code enforcement? How is a violation of a building and safety code a criminal act. (You can only get a search warrant for suspicion of a criminal act, last time I checked.)

what planet are you all from, the hells angels do some good. for instance, there is no extensive gang problems in the Ventura Avenue area, and its not because of the local police there efforts failed miserably, the hells angels have put there foot down on criminal gang activity in the Avenue area in the last 10 years, the cops are pissed the gangsters aren't scared of the police but do follow request from the hells angels, whens the last time you herd about a criminal gang activity or gang violence in west Ventura? what makes me laugh even more is the Ventura County sheriff is the only dept left with some balls to try and suppress the angels, good luck with that.... remember the last time the local police tried this crap? i have a bad feeling the sheriffs office is gonna go though the same embarrassment. one last thing why in the hell aren't the police agencies involved being investigated for illegal search, and seizure, perjury and other criminal activities like criminal profiling? this is a blatant violation of our civil rights.

While we're so distracted with voicing opinions of these guys and are completely missing the point here!
Everyone needs to fully and completely realize that anything they do to them, can be done to you.
Every business owner beware. The thinking "if I haven't done anything wrong I have nothing to worry about " can't protect you from greed when they are policing for profit.
Check out the article where the DA has filed a civil suit against a "dealer" in LA County for almost $400,000 in his assets. It was filed in civil since he wasn't even charged for dealing and it's way easier for the DA to prove why they think that it could maybe be possible, that his assets probably could have possibly been from drug profits. The DA just needs to believe it's possible!
He didn't even do the drug deal, was arrested in Holywood, and lives in Valencia. BUT since he talked to someone who was located in Ventura County on a cell phone the prosecutor Ron Carpenter feels they have the right to take everything he owns.
Did we forget the Donald Scott case??

I doubt that the search warrant was for faulty electrical wiring. Since Christie was arrested for drugs, it was probably a warrant to search for drugs.
While searching for whatever was in the warrant, they found the chemicals, bad wiring, etc. and that prompted inspections by the other agencies.
If it's true that the HA's keep the gang activity down in Ventura then I wish they'd set up a clubhouse in Oxnard and help with some of our gang problems. :~)

Mike666, do you hang around with another motorcyle gang/club? I'm very interested in your choice of words here.... Please reply.
Most people don't have a criminal mind which would require some finaggling and fudging on the letter of the law to correct some of the imbalances in justice. Hard working people rarely get a second look from the police, sheriffs, or CHPs. The HAs and other motorcycle clubs/gangs are very sneeky. How is the police supposed to find fire starters in their floor boards? This is a dangerous place to store flamables. These kids could have gotten hurt. More than the usual criminal activity they are always up to.

I an old timer from Ventura and believe that their Fix Way clubhouse was at one time a auto fix it garage with a sunken pit so you could get under a car. Before hydralic lifts to raise car up. hence the false floor was put in to cover the pit. I also think the chemical could be there to lower a engine in cleaning dip to clean bike engines? Could be wrong but could be right? Meth is everywhere in USA. And HA is not. So where does it all comes from? Mobile meth labs in midwest is a big problem. Leave them alone. Have they actually harmed any of you??
Posted by BeaHappi on May 19, 2008 at 12:11 p.m. (Suggest removal)
sue805...I was actually thinking the same thing. To answer your question...no, no one from the HA's has ever harmed me, any of my family members, or anyone that I know.
Actually my only interaction ever with the HA's was favorable. I posted on the article about Mr. Christie being arrested that I saw him carry the Olympic torch for the 1984 games.
It was out on Las Posas, in the agricultural area and hundreds of HA's and others came out to watch. A local funeral home brought flags on 8' wooden poles and handed them out so that flags lined the road.
My cousin, who was a toddler at the time, crawled up on the hood of a car and turns out it belonged to an HA. This guy was so cool...didn't care that this little guy was crawling on his car.
It was just cool to have people from all walks of life there to celebrate the Olympics and to see George carry the torch. For that moment...and this may sound hokey but what the heck...we were all Americans first. I'll never forget the feeling or the experience.

Correct me if I am wrong but isn't that motor oil? Could it be that our local 81 is changing their oil in their scooters and saving it to recycle instead of dumping illegally in the trash! Get a life you paranoid closed minded people. Can't you see the 'scare tactics' being applied here? The news reports get you all riled up and start your mouths running in the wrong direction. The Red & White will be here long after we all are gone. They play an intregal role in the dynamics of our city. Ok, you're obviously not a business owner, and its probably safe to assume your unemployed, and since it doesn't sound like you have much life experience or education yet either, you probably don't even know we have a Constitution in this great country. We have rights that come with a pretty big responsibility to keep those in government in check by holding them accountable for their actions.
When you grow up you will learn how super important this is, and why these kinds of police tactics threaten YOUR pocketbook. I'm sure you've had a bully at school steal your lunch money. It's kinda like that.
Anyway, since it appears you like to fish, a (gentle) pat on the head to you for being such a brave BAIT fisherman! It's really kinda endearing how anyone could be all that excited and worried about the bait being used here. I know it's hard for such cute little whipper-snapper like yourself to understand, but the grown ups are busy right catching sharks. Run along for now.

According to the other article posted yesterday ("Christie disputes authorities' claim about chemicals") it states that "George Christie, 61, described the hole as a sump used by the ambulance company that was housed there 30 years ago before the Ventura building became the Hell Angels' headquarters. Workers dumped oil in the sump when they maintained and repaired their vehicles"
The article goes on to say that "According to Christie, city inspectors were at the clubhouse about two years ago when improvements were made there by a contractor who secured the proper permits. He said the walls of the clubhouse were opened up to make the place bigger and that an inspector approved the remodeling.
He said he is going to find out why an inspector signed off on it if the sump is dangerous. "At the very least, we are at risk," Christie said."

Oh mike666 -
Your silly judgement and assessment of me is so off base its rather amusing! You don't need to be affiliated to recognize when our tax dollars are being wasted AGAIN on this harrassment.
Nothing can ever justify law enforcement trampling on anyones rights. EVER! Are you saying that all cops need to do is simply THINK anyone has broken the law and they can do whatever they want, and that it is the cops who get to decide who can recieve protection and can have rights under our Constitution?
Are you saying that cops shouldn't have any restrictions and can do whatever they want to whoever they want whenever they want?
You have boldly stating here that anyone who doesn't passively lay down and approve of this abuse is criminal.
Since you do not understand, support or respect our Constitution nor the laws of the land, and you clearly don't support equal protection under the law YOU ARE MORE OF A THREAT TO MY FAMILY THAN BOTH THE COPS AND EVERY KIND OF GANG OUT THERE PUT TOGETHER!
You may be less frustrated if YOU moved to a DIFFERENT country that is more aligned with your belief system. But please don't undermine what we in this country value enough to protect. Sorry, but you are so wrong its scary.

If you let them into your life you will be raped, sent out to make money on your back. If you don't comply with them they will maime you or worse. there is nothing redeming about this crowd of scumbags. The ladies of the night are extorted out of their money by these guys. If they have children the HAs will film them in provacative ways. So, there is the child porn. Mike666 I'm sorry that you think I'm supporting the HAs. I am not!!!!! I can't stand them and if I see them they are too close to me. Oh yea, when my husband died, the hang arounds told me I couldn't raise my daughter alone, and that they would be happy to help me out by raising her themselves. Well, that's not ever going to happen. I raised her myself. and she is just fine. None of thier wet tee shirt contests or anything for my girl. Mike666 -
First of all, your claims of how "normal" men feel is interesting since you apparently have some rant and rage issues. yet at the same time you obviously you don't have an issue with wife-beating alcoholic cheaters.
You see, if you were really concerned about abuse, you would already know that your "heroes" outnumber the HA's and rank WAY up at top for being notorious wife-beating alcoholic cheaters. Yet you conveniently turn a blind eye to their crap! Why is that?
Check your facts. And again, this article is about the execution of a search warrant. Your trying so hard to play off that your righteousness, yet your selective bashing clearly demonstrates your views severely lack an ethical, moral and honest postion.
Posted by TheVeracious1 on May 24, 2008 at 2:33 p.m. (Suggest removal)
Mike 666 -
Unlike you, I know abuse is always wrong PERIOD.
These are some stats on your "lawful" heroes:
- Domestic violence ranks highest (yes, that would be #1 ) of ALL professions.
- Rate of alcoholism is two times the national average
- Divorce rate is 60-70 percent the national average.
- They don't even rank in the top 10 for most dangerous professions. It's more dangerous to be a groundskeeper or airline pilot than a cop. Can't blame stress!
- You have a 1 in 5 chance that a wife beater will respond to your call to 911.
Now what was that you were you saying about how "normal" men feel about men who abuse women and children?? Why aren't you bashing the cops? Or a better question, based on your anti-abuse rants, what exactly makes the cops the "good guys" in your wacky world??
And just to prove how off-base your judgement really is, I am a mother AND a grandmother. I have to say that your accusations are quite amusing and absurd to say the least. If you met me, you would feel like a complete idiot. I've told you before, I don't even know any HA's! I just think it is absolutely insane to accuse anyone of being evil simply because they have a deep respect for our Constitution.
You simply refuse see the distinction between those people who support the HA's and those who simply support our Constitution and feel the cops actions are quite questionable. Hey, if your saying that the HA's are the only people left who are actually willing to support and defend our Constitution, then sign me up! According to YOUR stats I'd be safer with the HA's than I would be hanging with the cops.

WOW! You're more wacky than I initially thought! I'm really serious. Of all the things I have been called in my life, NEVER have I ever been called either a liar or HA! Some people don't always understand my brutal honesty at times (thus my name), but I have always been respected for it.
The fact that you don't believe that I am actually a lady, a proud mother and an adoring grandma, leads me to think that you've got your own personal issues with women. I don't know whether to be insulted or complimented. Do you think that women are so dumb that we can't stand our ground in a debate or discussion, and that men are the only people capable having and voicing an opinion??
You have "profiled" me as a HA, and not only a man, but a mean and bad man, simply based on my my opinions regarding the rights we ALL have and need to protect under our US Constitution. I take personal offense to your obnoxious and outrageously disrespectful arrogant attitude towards women.
Maybe I should play your sterotypng game and just start insisting that you are a Bitter Former Female Cop with PMS. Since only a cop would profile someone so inaccurately, and only a terminated cop could be so bitter, only a female could rant on and on and on and on and refuse to listen to logic, and only PMS could cause someone to become so emotional and irrational.
It must be rough being you. I can't help you with all the other stuff, but a little Midol and regular excerise is a good start.
Posted by TheVeracious1 on May 24, 2008 at 5:42 p.m. (Suggest removal)
You have an issue with the HA that has nothing to do with protecting or caring about women.
I don't know who they are or why those people you mentioned are important to you (or me for that matter). You have no clue nor do you care about what is going on right under your own nose.
You do care about name calling and assumptions. If you didn't you wouldn't have assumed then keep insisting I am a HA or HA supporter, and a man. People don't do things for no reason. So you do have a reason and a motive for insisting I'm a man and a HA and now that I've tried to set you straight you first called me a liar and now you resort to saying that it doesn't even matter.
You rant endlessly about being angered by abusive men, yet when I tell you about the issue with abusive cops, you dismiss it then resort to saying how it doesn't even really matter. You just keep dreaming up more and more bizaar accusations against me - stop it. You sound like an idiot.

One, or more, steroid taking baseball player does not define MLB. One, or more, bad cop/firefighter does not define their departments. It is the bad in any group that makes the good look bad. This will all blow over in a few weeks, it will be quiet for some time and it will start all over again.

MIDOL666 -
I'm happy that you were FINALLY able to find someone at a dive bar intoxicated enough to actually agree with you. Whew! I imagine it was a rare, yet very special moment for you.
You're focused on your mission and I've finally learned that it's best not to distract you with boring and insignificant details like the TRUTH.
