Lightning earns first win of season

The L.A. Lightning earned its first win in franchise history, beating the Holland (Mich.) Blast 128-123 at Cal Lutheran on Friday night.
The Lightning, playing its inaugural season in the International Basketball League, was led by former L.A. Clipper Lamond Murray, who scored 32 points and grabbed 13 rebounds.
The Lightning led 82-51 in the third quarter, but the Blast rallied to get within three points with 18 seconds left before the Lightning held on.
The Lightning's Fred Vinson scored 22 points and made 6 of 10 3-pointers. Ronell Mingo scored 22 points and had nine rebounds.
Holland's Dennis Springs scored 34 points and had nine rebounds and nine assists.
The same two teams play again at Cal Lutheran at 7:30 p.m. tonight.
