Cavaliers lose Gibson to injury
Cavaliers guard Daniel Gibson will miss Game 6 of Cleveland's playoff against the Boston Celtics after separating his left shoulder during the second half Wednesday night.
Gibson, one of the Cavs' best perimeter shooters, left early in the fourth quarter following a collision and did not return. The team estimated he would miss one to two weeks.
The Cavaliers trail 3-2 in the best-of-seven series and could be eliminated tonight.
Gibson emerged as a star in Game 6 of last year's Eastern Conference finals against Detroit.
Pistons' Billups ready for conference finals: Chauncey Billups is taking advantage of the Detroit Pistons' break, pushing himself through scrimmages to get his right hamstring into game shape.
"I haven't done anything in like a week, so that takes a toll on you" the All-Star point guard said. "Being able to get up and down is a plus for me."
Detroit earned at least a few days off to rest and give Billups a chance to recover by sweeping the Orlando Magic.
If the top-seeded Boston Celtics win on the road for the first time in the playoffs tonight in Cleveland, they will host the second-seeded Pistons on Sunday night in Game 1 of the Eastern Conference finals. If the fourth-seeded Cavaliers extend the series to a Game 7, the next series will likely start Tuesday night.
Rockets' Mutombo wants to play another year: Houston Rockets center Dikembe Mutombo, listed as 42 years old, still isn't ready to retire.
"I'm going to consider to keep playing basketball. The next part will be to tell my lawyer, David Falk," Mutombo said in Thursday's online edition of the Houston Chronicle. "My body and my mind is responding to the thrill of the game. The coaches and the fans and everyone are in there."
