Morning Report: Triple-digit heat predicted for inland valleys, mountains

Weather: Sunny and sweltering conditions are expected today, the National Weather Service reported.

Temperatures around 100 and wind gusts up to 30 miles per hour are predicted for local mountains and inland valleys.

On the coast, temperatures in the 70s are expected, but inland parts of coastal cities could heat up to the lower 90s.

Traffic: At 6:55 a.m., the California Highway Patrol was reporting a traffic collision on Etting Road at Wood Road in unincorporated area outside Oxnard. An ambulance was called to the scene.

Police and Fire: Last night and this morning were quiet and routine, law enforcement and fire department officials said.
