Ron Bach of Ventura and Bob Alderman of Calabasas will return to Ventura Raceway on Saturday night to resume their Senior Sprint Car series rivalry. Two weeks ago they made track history by finishing in a dead heat and both were awarded first-place points.

Darren Gunnell will be seeking his second straight Sport Compact victory. The USAC Midgets and USAC Ford Focus Midgets will round out the racing. Spectator gates open at 3:30 p.m. and heat racing starts at 5:30 p.m.

From the pits: Santa Paula's Jeff Fillingame had one of his best finishes in the Pro Dwarf Car feature last week by finishing fourth. Brent Stevens was the winner, followed by Mike Lewis and Greg Goodwin. Steve Ostling, a longtime Sprint Car racer, returned to Seaside Park to race in the VRA Senior Sprint Car division after an offnight from the USAC circuit where he's an official.

Jessica Zemken celebrated her 22nd birthday by racing in Ventura. Zemken, the 2004 Modified champion at Utica-Rome Speedway in New York, made several appearances in the VRA Sprint Car series. Zemken, who has also raced in Winged Sprint Cars, returned home to Sprakers, N.Y.

Teenagers Mel and Val Abernathy, the on-line hostesses of thatwebshow.tv, taped segments from Ventura Raceway on April 26 and May 3.

Oren Prosser Sr., the stock car racing sensation from Saugus Speedway, zipped through the track exit backward without crashing in a Senior Sprint Car segment. Prosser was OK and able to finish 11th in the main.

Richard McCormick, the Sprint Car racer from Agua Dulce, turned 50 earlier this week. Last week, Northridge's Mike Neal landed upside down in his Senior Dwarf Car. He was OK, but didn't complete a lap in the 20-lap feature. Ventura's Bill Van Praag went on to win for the second straight race.

Winn Frazin in the Junior Focus feature also landed on his roof and was OK on the sixth-lap crash. Jake Swanson, from Anaheim, went on to celebrate the 20-lap victory.

Covina's Mike Johnson was second, 1.593 seconds behind Myers. Bakersfield's Kevin Callahan was third in the 24-car field, 40-lap feature.

Riverside's Tyler Rogers, the defending champion in the Justice Brothers Mini Stocks series, passed Stanton's Tom Dye on the 18th lap en route to a 1.543-second win over Rich Garver of Torrance. Dye finished third.
