COLLEGE BASEBALL
Diamond earns all-conference honor
The Master's College's Tyler Diamond, the former Oxnard College and Royal High catcher from Simi Valley, was named to the All-Golden State Athletic Conference team.
Diamond won the job behind the plate during the season's first week and quickly established himself as the conference's premier catcher. He led the club in seven offensive categories, including hits (69), home runs (11), RBIs (47), total bases (124) and slugging percentage (.649).
Diamond had 23 multi-hit games and drove in two or more runs 14 times, highlighted by a season-high five RBIs against Westmont in April 9 when he hit two homers.
Despite missing out on the postseason, Joe Zeller and Tim Woodward were all-conference as the Mustangs finished 30-19, their first 30-win season in eight years.
HIGH SCHOOL WATER POLO
Carlson, Gross select colleges
Agoura High's Matt Carlson signed a letter of intent to play for the Naval Academy in 2008-09. Carlson was a first team All-Marmonte League, All-CIF and sixth team All-American.
Brandon Gross will attend and play water polo for Cal Lutheran. Gross was first team all-league and All-CIF. He was an honorable mention All-American team player.
YOUTH TRACK & FIELD
Moorpark High hosts varsity finals
The Ventura County Youth Track and Field Conference will hold its varsity finals on Saturday at 8:30 a.m. in the Moorpark High stadium.
The top performers from Camarillo, Heritage Valley, Moorpark, Newbury Park, Ojai, Oxnard, Thousand Oaks and Ventura will compete.

Hap Rapp meet set for Saturday: The 48th annual Hap Rapp Memorial track meet is Saturday at Camarillo High beginning at 8 a.m. The meet brings together middle school and elementary school athletes from the Pleasant Valley School District and surrounding areas. It is sponsored by the Camarillo Rotary Club. Caroline Neeley is one of the event coordinators.
