No one hurt in morning brush fire near park
Firefighters early Wednesday extinguished a small brush fire near Ventura Community Park, authorities said.
The fire was reported in the Harmon Barranca at Eisenhower Street in Ventura at 3:17 a.m., according to the city of Ventura Fire Department.
When firefighters arrived, they found about a quarter-acre of brush and eucalyptus trees burning on the west side of the barranca. They contained the fire within 40 minutes and were mopping up until about 5 a.m.
No injuries were reported, and no homes were threatened by the blaze, which was sparked by an unattended campfire at an illegal campsite, authorities said.
