Firefighters responding to blaze find ailing man

Firefighters responding to a blaze in a Port Hueneme condominium Wednesday night discovered a neighbor with no pulse lying in the alley behind the building, authorities said.

The man apparently went to see what was happening and suffered a heart attack, according to Ventura County Fire Department Capt. Barry Parker.

The fire was reported about 9 p.m. in the 2600 block of Explorer Cove. Firefighters arriving at the home saw smoke billowing from the front door.

About 9:10 p.m., rescue workers spotted the man behind the home. He was not breathing, Parker said.

Firefighters immediately began attempts to resuscitate the man but were unable to revive him before he was taken by ambulance to St. John's Regional Medical Center, Parker said.

The victim's name and condition were unavailable Wednesday night.

The damage was confined to a bedroom in the home, and no further injuries were reported, Parker said.

What? You mean no one is going to blame the OXPD of causing the fire or making the man have the heart attack? You mean no one is going to say that the city of Oxnard is to blame for the man's condition? Finally, an article where blame isn't passed around! Thank you!
