Summer Fun for Local Seniors

Pickleball players have a great time learning the game and competing with others. This is one of the programs offered during the Summer for seniors ages 50 and over.
Seniors age 50 and over will have lots to do over the summer. To sign up, contact either the Simi Valley Senior Center, 3900 Avenida Simi, (805) 583-6059 or Rancho Simi Recreation and Park District, 1692 Sycamore Drive, (805) 584-4400. A few programs planned for the next few weeks include:
Basic Ballet is offered to get you up and moving, while building your muscles. No experience is necessary and instructor, Karen Troop, suggests ballet shoes to get the most from the experience. Classes are Mondays, June 16-July 21, 7pm-8:30 pm for only $24.
Queen Mary Cabaret Show and Dinner on June 22, 10:45am to 6:30 pm, $99 per person. Seniors will enjoy a performance of Let the Sunshine In at the Libbies Dinner Theatre featuring live performances by tribute artists Sonny and Cher, Steve and Edie, and Tom Jones. There will be a choice of entrée and transportation in a deluxe motorcoach is included. Reservations are due by June 11.
Scrapbooking Club meeting Mondays, 6-9 pm, or Thursdays, 9am-12pm on an ongoing basis. Learn to create beautiful scrapbooks in a fun atmosphere. Bring your photos and learn new ideas. Quarterly fee is $5.
Pickleball, also called modified paddle tennis, is a combination of badminton and tennis and is played on a badminton court with a three foot high net and large paddles. Singles and doubles teams can play. The program is ongoing, year-round, on Tuesdays from 9am to 12 pm and is free.
Porcelain Painting is offered on eight Fridays, May 30-July 25 (no class July 4), from 9am-12pm. The fee is $25.
Basic Computer will be offered on Tuesdays, June 17-July 22, 7pm-9pm, for $40. Become technologically savvy.
Intermediate Computer will be offered on Wednesdays, June 25-July 16, 6pm-8:30 pm, for $40. Now that you know the basics, discover all the possibilities that await you. Learn more about saving our documents and photos, Windows XP, Microsoft Word, PowerPoint and Publisher.
The Essence of Ebay class on six Thursdays, June 19-July 24, 1pm-2:20pm, will teach you how to sell your valuables online. The fee is only $40, but the income you can make is up to you.
