Nominations due for annual Spirit awards
Nominations are due by Friday for the sixth annual Spirit of Community Awards Celebration.
In addition to the new category of a nonprofit community organization, the event will recognize top area educators, local community volunteers, law enforcement agencies, fire protection agencies and armed forces, according to the awards host, the Thousand Oaks-Westlake Village Chamber of Commerce.
The public is invited to nominate nonprofit organizations that have had a positive impact on the communities of Thousand Oaks and Westlake Village.
To be considered, nominations must be received at the chamber offices by the deadline date.
Download a nomination form at http://www.towlvchamber.org. The completed form may be mailed to the chamber, attention Jessie McCormick, 600 Hampshire Road, Suite 200, Westlake Village CA 91361.

Open to the public, the awards event will be held from 7 to 9 p.m. June 5 at Los Robles Greens Banquet Center, 299 S. Moorpark Road, Thousand Oaks.
The evening features a two-hour dessert reception and awards presentation. Cost is $27, and reservations are required.
