Kevin Kierce of Reseda did what he does best on Saturday night at Ventura Raceway.

Kierce won his second straight Ventura Racing Association sprint car feature.

He's won races in two different cars.

"I have two cars and it's hard to hop, but I have had back-to-back wins," said Kierce after his third win of the season.

Santa Clarita's Clark Templeman III had to settle for another second—place finish. Templeman started on the pole, but Rick Hendrix of Palmdale was the early leader before Kierce found the groove and blew past the field.

Templeman said he had fun and doesn't mind being No. 2.

After 10 races, Kierce is the points leader with 1,965. Templeman has 1,855 and Hendrix is third with 1,780 points.

Greg Taylor, the reigning champion from Ventura, finished fourth in the 30-lap feature with only one yellow flag. Guy Woodward was fifth.

Jim Naylor, Ventura Raceway promoter and announcer, said he picked Hendrix to win the 18-car battle.

"I was too tight," said Hendrix after the dust had cleared. "I kept making mistakes and it was fun to race with him (Kierce)."

Hendrix credits his wife in the pit crew and all his sponsors for his success this season. Kierce said his sponsors and crew have been behind him all season.

The Sprint Cars will have a week off next week, while the VRA Senior Sprint car drivers, 45 and older, will be running Saturday along with the Sport Compacts, USAC Junior Focus, Midgets, Junior Midgets and Mini Dwarfs.

Brent Stevens of Thousand Oaks snapped Mentone's Brian Saxton's four-race win streak in the VRA Pro Dwarf Car series.

"It feels like my first win," said an elated Stevens in the winner's circle.

"Brian has been kicking our butt," said Stevens. "I'm sorry he wrecked."

Stevens had taken over the lead from the pole-starting Saxton, but a crash knocked him out.

Mike Lewis was second and Greg Goodwin was third .

Saxton has 1,180 points and Stevens is second with 1,125.

Bill Van Praag celebrated his second consecutive Senior Dwarf Car feature win. Van Praag started in the 16th spot and weaved his way past Dave Hume (second) and Kevin Alverson (third). Alverson is the points leader with 1,110. Jim Scibellito is second with 1,075. Van Praag also has 1,075 points.

Ryan Cotrell came from Las Vegas to race at the Ventura County Fairgrounds in the IMCA field. The former Dwarf Car star, who won a race and finished second, was checking out the dirt oval for this summer's Ventura County Fair Racing.

Cotrell started eighth and charged past Ronnie Williams (second) and points leader Damon Redman (third). Redman has 222 points after six races and defending two-time champion Jack Parker is second with 219 points.

Jake Swanson captured the 20-lap VRA Junior Focus Midget race. Lance Butler was second and Charlie Butcher third. Butcher is the points leader with 1,330 through six races. Tyler Edwards is second at 1,245.

Cameron McCauley won for the second time in the Mini Dwarf Pistons division. Oliver Blades was second. McCauley has 1,435 points after six races. Cole Wakim stands second with 1,355.

Devin McCree won the Mini Dwarfs Supercharger feature over Ricky Lewis.

Lewis tops the series with 1,470 points and McCree is second with 1,415.

Luke Boles prevailed in the Junior Midgets feature. Mark Garrett was second. Jessica Clark leads the series with 1,200 points. Riley Helland is second with 1,160 and Boles follows at 1,155.

Ventura Raceway featured 122 cars and 21 Pro Dwarf Cars led the way. The Senior Dwarf Car field featured 19 racers. The IMCA Modifieds had 17 cars.
