ExxonMobil employees from across the Gold and Central Coast rallied together in support of their United Way Charitable-giving campaign by organizing a Golf Tournament this past Friday, May 9 at the River Course in Solvang.
Over 40 ExxonMobil golf novices and enthusiasts came together in the spirit of camaraderie and generosity. This year's United Way Campaign Chairman is Jay E. McCord, an employee with over three decades of service to ExxonMobil. McCord ran the ExxonMobil United Way Campaign previously. Throughout the month of July, ExxonMobil will be conducting a series of campaign activities at many of their facilities including the offshore plant off the Gold Coast.
It is ExxonMobil's long-standing belief that education is the key to progress, development and economic growth, and they are committed to being a responsible partner in the communities where they operate. This year the United Way campaign will emphasize opportunities for empowering youth, particularly about finding preventative ways to improve their overall conditions.
"United Way of Ventura County is truly excited about presenting its Youth Initiatives to the ExxonMobil employees," said Pedro A. Chavez, United Way's Campaign Director. "They will hear first-hand from the personal experiences of our high school students who recently completed the Youth Empowerment Summit training program."
