UCLA, USC to play for title

STANFORD — Tanya Gandy scored three goals in the first four minutes of the third period to help top-ranked UCLA beat UC Davis 11-4 on Saturday and advance to the NCAA championship match against USC.

USC advanced to today's title game with a 10-6 victory over Stanford as Michelle Stein scored three straight goals to open the fourth period.

Gandy's scoring spurt put the game away.

Gandy chose to go to UCLA (32-0) over UC Davis.

Courtney Mathewson scored three goals for the Bruins, who will be seeking their fourth consecutive national title, and sixth since 2001. Only USC and Stanford have won NCAA titles other than UCLA.

The Women of Troy advance to their first title game since 2006.
