Simi Valley residents can drop off their trash, green waste and bulky items for free from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. May 18 at the Simi Valley Landfill and Recycling Center.
Certain items, including televisions, electronics, and household hazardous waste will not be accepted.
To help minimize delays at the event, the following guidelines should be followed:
- Have valid identification to show proof of residency to cashier.
- Cover all loads with tarps.
All loads are subject to inspection, and all commercial vehicles are subject to applicable rates unless prior arrangements have been made.
There will be designated areas and containers for recycling.
There also will be separate unloading areas for concrete, asphalt, green waste, and construction and demolition waste. The landfill is at 2801 Madera Road, Sim Valley.
Visit the landfill Web site at http://www.keepingventuracountyclean.com/materials.html for a full list of nonacceptable items and information on where those items can be properly disposed.
