Fire season rules to begin Monday in national forest
High fire season in Los Padres National Forest will begin Monday, when new fire-prevention rules take effect.
The new restrictions include:
• Burn permits for private property in the forest are suspended.
• Campfire permits are required in all areas except designated campfire sites. If a fire is built, burn at least 5 feet away from the nearest vegetation. Always monitor the fire and completely douse before leaving.
• Do not park on grass or other vegetation for fear of exhaust systems starting fires.
• Make sure off-road vehicles and equipment with engines have spark arresters.
