Web site provides a place for moms to interact
Mothers in Ventura County have a new way to connect with one another, with the launch of 805moms, a social networking Web site.
The site, at http://www.805moms.com, was created as a one-stop local community resource for both working and stay-at-home moms where information can be found about local events, parks, play groups, child-care programs, businesses, attractions and family activities.
The site also provides message boards, newsletters and the ability to create personalized blogs. Here, local moms can discuss common parenting challenges, get to know other moms in their area and share stories, milestones and photographs.
The site's "head mom," Tara Stivers, said: "As a parent, I know how isolating motherhood can be at times. We've created a place where moms have instant access to support, recommendations and information that is local.
"I'm excited to see Ventura County moms guide this online community as it develops and grows," she said.
Also, she said, watch in the coming weeks for local events sponsored by 805moms.com.
The site is part of the E.W. Scripps Co.'s Scripps Entrepreneurial Ventures' "iMoms" network of "mom" Web sites charged with developing online, newspaper, magazine, radio and TV content targeted at moms. Scripps also owns the Ventura County Star.
